Remarks

Bineswar Brahma Engineering College is the 3rd government engineering college of the State of Assam, India. For admission to the government engineering colleges of Assam, you first have to appear for an entrance test called CEE(Common Entrance Examination), solely based on your class 12 syllabus. If you manage to score decent in this exam, then you will be called for online counseling (which was conducted in October in the years 2020 and 2021) where you have to put your college preferences as well as the branches(CSE, CE, ME, EE, etc), and after that and you will be selected for admission to a certain engineering college to a certain branch (based on your preference) of the state as per your rank, marks, category, and other criteria. And thus, you will have to admit yourself to the college and go through an offline verification process.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose Btech in civil engineering at Bineswar Brahma Engineering College as the college is well known for engineering and many of my peers and seniors were there. The civil engineering branch was started in the year 2018 so it's quite new as of now. The classrooms of the department of civil engineering are wonderfully designed to motivate the students and they are large enough for sixty students. The faculty-student ratio is 1:60 here. The department of civil engineering consists of highly educated (up to Ph.D.) and well-experienced faculty members. We are provided with digital classrooms and that softens the teaching method. The term exams are conducted regularly and they are solely based on the syllabus. If you prepare well, study hard, submit the assignments timely, and attend classes regularly then scoring a CGPA above 8 isn't hard at all.

Internships Opportunities

3

The students can apply for various internships through Internshala or other such websites. From the second semester onwards, the students have to do internships mandatorily as a part of their syllabus. They should have the experience of doing social internships at NGOs or other organizations (online or offline).

Placement Experience

2.5

The students of the college managed to get placed in reputed companies. There is a good record of placement here. The students are also engaged in establishing their startups as well. Keeping a track of the scenarios, the college is highly expected to have the best placements in the upcoming years. From the 7th semester onwards students become eligible for placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

You have to pay an annual fee at the time of admission and that's it. No monthly fees are charged. But, you have to pay a certain amount of fee for appearing exams too. You can avail yourself of scholarships like - Ishan Uday, Pragati, NEC if you apply for them and fulfill the required criteria. These scholarships are truly strengthening the financial aspects of the students.

Campus Life

4

The college organizes an annual tech fest called Technisia in February -March and it's the festival for which all the students wait eagerly. The students of the college share a healthy senior-junior relationship and also a strong bond with the faculty members. The infrastructure of the college is properly designed and it's quite good. But, lack of maintenance is the problem here. Otherwise, everything is at its place, the classrooms and laboratories are well furnished and well equipped as well. The college library provides books for every student and they have to renew the books after a certain period or else they're charged with a late fine. The library consists of books on every field of engineering. There is a basketball court for the students in front of the college. The students excel in extracurricular activities as well. A college election is also an important event. The magazine committee annually publishes a college magazine called "BBECIAN".

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
