Remarks

It's a centrally owned research college n I was interested in research so I took admission in IISER, Bhopal. The admission process was not that complicated either. I took admission through the IISER aptitude test (IAT). There are cutoff marks for each boards exam that u have to score to become eligible for giving IAT. Then u give IAT. It's just like other entrances. But more focus is given on the critical thinking aspect of pure science unlike the "put the formulae get the answer" approach of jee mains. Then after a month, a cutoff score is given and all those securing above it or equal to the cutoff have chances of getting into the institution. Then there are different rounds (most probably 6) for the admission procedure. In my case, as all the seats were not filled by 6 rounds, so they conducted an additional 7th round in which I was selected for economic science.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Yeah, faculty members are nice and quite supportive. They always take out their free time to help us. As the system is online so we can't make cent percent use of the facilities of the college. Still, faculties provide their materials. Faculties are well qualified from institutions like the IISc Bangalore, Pune University, Delhi University, and some even from abroad. They are well experienced. Exams were done in proper time. However there were some descrepancies as many of our teachers were themselves suffering from corona.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

As it's a premium research institute, so students mainly approach professors from different national(like IISERs, IITs, NITs, NISER, etc.) and international (like MIT, Stockholm University, Oxford University, Cambridge University, etc.) Institutions to do internships and reading projects on a particular topic. Companies generally don't approach here. However, students from the economic science and engineering science dept approach different companies to get desired internships that may be paid or unpaid. Internships in the first year are normally unpaid and are paid in the further years of study.

Placement Experience

4

Around 80% of students get placement while the others pursue research as their career and don't at all sir for interviews in order to pursue odD and further studies mostly from abroad. Economic science is a new branch. It's expected that the amount of placement in economic and engineering sciences will be much higher than those of natural sciences as people from economics and engineering sciences want to pursue a job after the completion of BS or BS-MS. I want to work as an HR Or manager in a fashion brand after the completion of my degree or else I would like to pursue an MBA from any prestigious institution.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure is well n good and much lesser than other private or state govt owned colleges. But it's quite displeasing that they took full fees(including fees of gym, library, and hostel) even at this time of pandemic when the first years have not even seen the college, forget about the hostel and all. INSPIRE scholarship is being provided to all the deserving candidates of 'natural science'. But as such there's no scholarship for the students of 'economics' and 'engineering sciences'. The internship is being provided to deserving candidates and all candidates are free to do any kind of internship in their whole college career. But for being eligible for the internships provided by the college, u have to score good marks.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest is ENTHUZIA held in September-October each year and the TECH-FEST is a singularity which is actually a tech cum research-based fest for science enthusiasts held in November-December each year. Classrooms are very well equipped with all types of offline and online study and teaching materials. The library has a good source of different books and research papers from genuine sources. Institute has an annual subscription to useful tools and apps like Grammarly, Matlab, codetantra, etc. The institution has different clubs like Astronomy club, physics, chemistry, maths, biology, and economics club within the science council and fine arts club, literary club, design and craft club, movie club, music club, dance club, etc. within the fine arts and literary council, environmental science club and Prayash(a social welfare organization run by the students for the poor and deprived people) within the environment and social initiative club. Also, there are different games clubs in the sports council

Hostel Facilities

4

It's a residential campus. So hostel is reserved for anyone who gets admission into the institute. Rooms in the hostel are well equipped with necessary amenities and there are many common washrooms for the whole floor. Currently, there are 7 hostels, 5 for girls and two for boys. Meal quality is average. Nonveg(fish, egg, and chicken) is given from time to time.

Interview Experience

5

I gave IISER APTITUDE TEST (IAT) to get into the institute. The topics covered all the science topics from PCMB that is taught in CBSE class 11 and 12. I read all my NCERT books thoroughly and used my coaching notes to prepare for IAT.

Other Applied Colleges

CET bhubaneshwar | BTech in fashion and apparel technology

Because it was a state govt institution and my current institution IISER is a central government owned. So I preferred it more.
