Remarks

Just like the admission of all engineering colleges in Gujarat, the process took place through ACPC. Some of the colleges I applied to were Birla Vishwakarma Mahavidyalaya, Vallabh Vidyanagar (BVM), Dharamsinh Desai University, Nadiad (DDU), Charotar University of Science and Technology, Changa (CHARUSAT). I didn't get into BVM and DDU because the merit closed in before mine. I wanted Computer Engineering in CHARUSAT but got IT. So, I had to prioritize between CHARUSAT IT and GCET IT. I went in for GCET IT mostly it had better merit and wasn't remotely located like CHARUSAT. The ACPC process considered two criteria: PCM marks of class 12 and JEE score, based on which merit list was prepared.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I was naive enough to give in to the societal norms that girls usually opted for Computer or IT, of which I got into IT so I took it. faculty: student ratio in our department would have been approx. 1:20. All faculties had a Masters's degree, while one or two of them had a PhD. The teaching method is conventional which tends to become uninteresting at times. Some faculties would explain via ppts, while others on the whiteboard. Every semester had an end-semester exam and a mid-semester exam. The difficulty level of the exams was about average.

Placement Experience

3.5

Eligible for campus placements from semester 7. Companies: Infosys, Integration Point, Exxat Systems, SIMFORM SOLUTIONS, Thomson Reuters, Collabera, ACTY SYSTEMS No of offers: 350+ Average Package: 3 lakh per annum I joined the company I was placed in, in my final semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee hike probably took place probably once every three years. Scholarship: MYSY Many companies came for on-campus placements in our final year. Talking of IT, the mass recruiter was Infosys. All companies that came in gave a package between 2-4 lakh per annum. I got a job as a QA Analyst at Integration Point.

Campus Life

3

Tech fest: Imaze which was mostly during April month each year. And there was an annual day event that was mostly in sync with it. Coursebooks were all available in the college library but some in a limited quantity. Some classrooms weren't as well-furnished as the others. The labs had ACs but which wouldn't always function well. Given that I didn't take much interest in sports back then leaves me saying there was Cricket, Basketball and some sports events as part of the tech fest. There were two state-to-national level cultural events each year, Youth Fest and Volcano. There was also an annual magazine publishing the works of students and faculties, GCET VOICE.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I did write the course curriculum and Indus university as good and relevant. Overall I chose this course because it has strong fundamentals project work and practical exposure. The curriculum prepares students well for real-world applications and internships, Though it could include more advanced tech technologies and industry certifications exams are regular, each semester and moderate, challenging, encouraging consistent study, but sometimes could be more practical oriented.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well structured and covers all the basic and important subjects related to the field. This course includes both theoretical and practical subjects which influenced my decision to choose it. The syllabus helps in building strong fundamentals, but it is still more theory-oriented and less industry-focused. It prepares students for exams and higher studies, but for real-world skills, students need to do extra courses and self-practice. The exams are conducted every semester along with internal tests and are moderate in difficulty level. If a student studies regularly, the exams are not very difficult to clear. The curriculum should be updated more frequently and more practical, project-based and industry-related topics should be added.
