Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced)Score 160This college is known for its teaching and contribution to society for 90 years and more. Also This was the best that I could get.

Course Curriculum Overview

Syllabus here is same as the other IITs. Course structure is quite good and help us improving our theoretical knowledge. Also research here is good here. Since ISM is known for its contribution towards earth science, it has many contribution towards the same.

College Events

There are many events and fest celebrated at IIT (ISM). We celebrate Srijan and Concetto which are the cultural and Techno Management fest which attracts no of participants from nearby by colleges. We also have Basant which is a alumni fest. Also there are other fests/events like Parakram(Sports Fest), Hacfest (Hackathon) and many more.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Due to hike in fee structure of IITs, the new fee structure is quite high, however present student's fee did not change and that is average. Students who have taken admission in 2016 and after that have to pay 2 lakhs per annum. However it is quite low for Minorities and dalit students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Student here can easily take scholar loan from bank at low interest. Also there are no of scholarships provided by college.

Campus Life

Campus life is very good. We have most of required facilities present here. However gender is not up to the mark. The ratio is around 1:10. Labs here are well equipped with required instruments. There is ample space for the students who are interested in sports.

Hostel Facilities

Accommodation is quite good here.Each room accommodate two students. It also has LAN port available which provide enough speed of internet helping students in their studies. However the mess food on some days is not so good and we eat outside on those days.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the alumni and the seniors are very helpful. Juniors can approach anytime and they are always ready to help.

Exam Structure

We have two semesters in a year and each semester have two examinations- Mid semester Examination and End semester Examination. Exam leaves us ample time for preparation. It is very chill. We ample time to complete our sleep.

Faculty

Faculty here is also very good, most of them have Ph.Ds and M.Techs from the top IITs and some of them even have Ph.Ds from institutes of international acclaim, some even have been awarded the Padma Bhushan for their contribution to Academics and the Industry.

Campus location is good but there is shortage of shops.
Professor are good and supportive and you can keep bike sk questions whenever you needed.

Dislikes

Mess food is not so good and if you taking hostel it is compulsory to take mess
Transpotation facility is not so good and you

Placement Experience:

From third semester students are allowed for internship and about the placement is about 5 to 6 lpa .Many students here are preparing for government exam like gate ,ies isro ,barc etc. And if you are not satisfied by placement from campus you can try off campus.

At the starting phase of college , we have a beautiful campus (which is not ours actually , its on rent ) loacted at Namkum, Ranchi. known as JUT campus, but after that things are not good.
Some what I liked the sports culture, but we don't have any sports Club yet.

Dislikes

Placements(actually there are students who are the coordinators for the placement group , there is no any particular advisor or any TPO head is there earlier...now there is one TPO coordinator but things are becoming worst there.
No grounds for any sports, we don't have badminton court indoors, so we have to wait for wind to settle before we can play outside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)

Likes

I like their rules and regulation of college.
I like the annual sports, event, and cultural program.
Regular classes, labs, and time to time internal exams

Dislikes

Thing that I don't like is hostal cleaning, mesh food.
I think there is more rules and regulation for senior boys hostels.
From senior boys hostel they pass some comment to the girls

The curriculum that influenced my decision to choose this course is the proper mindset from the class I chose to study btech. The areas for improvement in the course curriculum are more labs to be conducted proper smart classes to be held.

Infrastructure of the University is good enough and also going on for new building
Labs and machineries are updated and in good condition.
Non teaching staffs are helpful and genuine.

Dislikes

Administration make fake promises and discontinue.
Some staffs are egoistic don't think of any one.
Canteen food prices are not affordable. It is too expensive for middle class students.

Good university for those who want degree only not job as they will say 100 percent placement but never make their promises and yes they will also send you in depression so be strong and believe in your self.

Likes

the greenery of college campus is very nice
the environment of the college is very good
college library staffs are very well behaved

Dislikes

the faculty is not up to the mark , u will not be satisfied by their teaching
student intake is very very less so you will experience less competition
the college campus is beautiful yet very small

Placement Experience:

yes campus placement is offered . the average package is about 7 to 8 lakhs in C.S.E , the placement rate is about 90% for which above 7.5 CGPA is required . The placement rate for E.C.E and E.E.E are also decent .

Experience of an undergrad

Likes

college have great environment good facilities needed as per requirements ,college also have good spacious hostels and we can say better food comparing to what i heard from friends of different colleges ,the evening time is soothing and relaxing
a great senior junior interaction culture and memorable friendships letting you forget the world outside the campus, every festivals are celebrated with joy and fun ,from leaving a family to moving to another one you would love.
some of lectures are quite boring but some will amaze you with visionary thoughts ,every faculty will guide you if they see you lagging behind the course ,some extra sessions are also conducted, introducing new fields to think out of the box

Dislikes

things which i wish might get some improvements are sports facilities big grounds for sports activities students encouragement towards co-curricular activitiy, co-curricular activities get more support to come out with glorious and imagining skills.
fests do contain fun but due to time constraints before fests planning of amazing activities becomes difficult thus leading same things going on repeating, absence of good team leaders leading activities plays major role in activity failure and bored
night out time is a small problem, the area close to college is developing hence not having nearby much places for fun and chillouts spending your free time relaxing.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college is average as during 2023-24 it was recession period all over the colleges are facing placements lags but still college students managed to achieve 22 lakhs+ off campus as well as 16 lakhs on campus placement.The college reached his highest placement of 51 lakh during 2023 ,the average package is 5-6 lakh and the placements percentage are 85 percent for cse students,the students completing 7th semester are eligible for on campus placement drive as well as off campus,some of the prominent companies visited are Microsoft, cognizant, samsung, byjus,infosys and 50 more.I will prepare for gate and after that i will try to get on and off campus placements which i will find better accept the offer.

First year experience in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

I applied to this college through JoSAA process. I gave my 12th board examinations and qualified JEE mains (98.4 percentile) and JEE advanced. I got admission through JEE advanced rank. In JoSAA counselling , I filled various other IITs and NITs. In my rank ( 19181 in jee advanced general category), the best possible option I saw was this college. The fees were also reasonable. The college is closer to my home and has a glorious history in mining for 100 years. I chose this college over others because it is a very prestigious IIT. It is close to my home too. Also I liked the branch I got here. The admission process of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in B Tech is through JEE advanced examination after which you need to fill JoSAA counselling. For M.Tech you need to qualify GATE examination. The overall admission experience was good. Earlier I was anxious as the whole system seemed a little overwhelming but the process was smooth. Review of IIT ISM DHANBAD

Firstly my dream is to go to IIT college because of its good placement and very big and beautiful campuses with all facilities. Secondly since my rank is 9k in jee advance . My first priority is circuital branch in first generation IIT so I prefer IIT ism Dhanbad electrical over computer science branch in second or third generation IIT . Secondly since I love physics I want to pursue that type of courses where logically thinking involved. Admission process is easy there is one portal name as jossa where you have registered yourself and then you need to fill the priority of college and branch according to your priority and rank you got college there will be 6 round in that if you don't got good college in first round go for further chances will be high you got good colleges. My suggestion is to consider both branch and college during filling the priority of your college selection since it will impact further during placements.
