Life of a PGDM student at JAGSOM

50% marks in competitive exams, as minimum criteria. The process had Group Exercise instead of GD, which felt a little different and more cohesive. I applied to a few other colleges, but the exposure to the corporate sector was not as good as this college, so I opted for JAGSOM.

The faculty members are very learned, experienced and helpful in nature. There is constant support from them and they constantly motivate the students to achieve better. Teaching methods were good even when classes happened online, as well as offline. Exams happened timely and did not happen just for theory, but they were based on practical knowledge.

Companies come in a wide range from startups to established names in the industry Over the years companies like Oracle, Mercedes, P&G, Kellogs, Infosys, Numly, OSG, Arcesium, Cuemath, Jaro, Metric Stream, Scaler and Smart Knower have come and each year new ones are added.

One becomes eligible after 1.5 years of classes. Then 4.5 months long Internship begins for which companies come for placement. After the 2 years are done, students can choose to work full time in an intern company or sit for placement again. 100% of students get placed from college or own resources, each year.

The fee is 16L including hostel for 1 year and cost of Super Specialization Term, in partnership with a foreign university. The hostel feels covers food, Wi-Fi, bus facility to and from college which seems reasonable. Scholarships are given on a combination of previous marks. As such, no financial assistance is given to students from the college.

The biggest annual event is a charity run for girls child-Kanyathon. The hostel has bonfires, dancing, on festivals. There are tons of committees to choose from-domain related and sports, cultural, PR and media and so on. Sports and wellness classes are monitored by PEP faculty and proper infrastructure is available. The college has thousands of books and e-books, journals, research papers in the library.

The room has a bed, table, chair, almirah, tube lights and a fan. Each room has a single/sharing balcony and a window. The rooms are well-lit. The menu is created each month in consideration with the food committee (students) and is followed. There are 3 free meals and the cafeteria offers snacks and beverages to be bought if students wish to. Registration was done automatically along with admission, the process was simple.

The first round was a picture-based test, whereas one had to write a short essay per picture. It was followed by a group exercise, where a group of 12 had to solve a hypothetical problem for a nearby slum and give solutions. The final round was PI with faculty and corporates. Overall, the process was not difficult, one has to be confident and communicate well.
