Remarks
Besides Patna women's college(PWC) , i also applied to Magadh mahila college and BN college but my 1st preference was PWC because it is the best college in Bihar for girls. The admission process at PWC is very smooth, transparent & completely based on your entrance scores. There are various quota similar to any other entrance exams but i didn't avail any. Eligibility criteria for my program (BSc) was a minimum 50% aggregate in 10+2 ( 45% for SC/ST). The admission process starts with the filling of application form(Rs900). Then the date of exam is announced. The exam is conducted offline but due to covid it was online in the year 2020 & 2021. The paper contains 100 questions (30 each from phy, Che, Bio /maths & 10 from GK). Paper is easy. 3 merit lists are declared by the college. It is followed by counselling, interview and the submission of admission fee. It is mandatory to be present on the ALLOTTED date of admission ALONG WITH PARENTS , failing to do so TERMINATES your admission.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to study chemistry since there is a huge scope in it,therefore i chose this course. Also I was offered Microbiology as the GE course that i loved throughout the duration of 2 years. The faculty to student ratio is 1:10. All the faculties are highly qualified and PHD holders. Most of them have completed their MSc from IIT. Hence their teaching method is very understandable. They are friendly and always willing to clear our doubts. They provide proper notes of each chapter that helps us score good in the exams. If you are attentive in the class and make proper notes given by the professors then you can easily score good in the semesters since most ot the questions are from the notes itself. It is easy to pass. We have a semester system( 6 semesters in total). All the semester exams are held duly on time but due to covid, semester 3&4 were postponed and the students were promoted to the next semester. The teachers and seniors are always there to guide you in all circumstances.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides several add on courses to the students to enhance their skills, personality, knowledge and resume. Hence i chose to persue the course of Human resource management where doing internship was compulsory. Hence i completed 1month internship at Shri krishna Science Centre, Govt of India as an HR intern (it did not include stipend). Students get internships in various companies like TCS, LIC, bank of India, big bazaar, hotel Maurya, Gargee grand etc. They get these internships for various roles like marketing, sales, HR,,Analyst, etc. Based on these internships, students have to prepare a report and project which are used in their assessment.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from semester 6th. Various companies visited this year including TCS etc. The average package was 1.5 lacs and the highest package went upto 7 lacs. 20-30% of the students get placed at campus. I persued this degree because i wanted to study chemistry during my graduation but i dont want my future in this field. Hence i am currently working at several internships in marketing. After getting the degree, I want to do MBA in Marketing and work as a consultant.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is affordable. The fee at PWC is higher as compared to other colleges of Patna University but the quality makes it worth it. The entire fee for BSc is around 1.5 Lacs (Rs22,700 per semester). But the fee is never a problem for those who want to study at Patna women's college. There are various scholarships like the platinum jubilee scholarship, etc. Students from financial weak backgrounds are granted 100% scholarships. There were various students from my class who applied for the scholarship and all of them got selected for their genuine cause. Since PWC has its own placement cell, students get campus placements in their final year with a package of 3.5 Lacs and more. Also, you can get amazing off campus placements with attractive stipends when you mention Patna women's college in your resume.
Campus Life
The campus of Patna women's college is beautiful ,clean and green.Several programs are conducted in the campus throughout the year (you can find a program being conducted by one or the other departments everyday as you enter the college gate). The notice boards are flooded with participation details for different cultural programs throughout the year. Tech fest was conducted in the month of December. But the most awaited program for PWCians is the COLLEGE DAY. It is held in the month of November where all the girls are draped in glamorous sarees. Dj, dance, food stalls, blogging are the key attractions of this day. Annual sports day is another attraction where several inter college winners are awarded. Each department has its own library with an amazing collection of books, plus we have a central library too with an E library attached to it. Every classroom has a projector & all the necessary aminities.Several extra curricular activities are organised in the campus including the sports.
Other Applied Colleges
BN college | B.Sc
BN college is a well known college but PWC is the best for girls. So, i didn't opt for BN college.
