Remarks
The time I spent in this college will always be my best memory of life. Its beautiful out there and one has to live there to experience it.
Entrance Preview
I got admission into FMS BHU through CAT examinations. The best thing for which I opted this college was its placement and the Return on Investment. Well, not many colleges provide you A-class MBA education in Rs. 56,000(for 2 years).
Course Curriculum Overview
The course comprises of MBA and MBA (International Business). They provide Finance, HR, Marketing, Operations elective in both of them. The course is thoroughly charted to meet the requirements of Industry and the students. We have subjects like Corporate Law, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Organization Behavior and Accounting as Compulsory subjects. Then there are optional subjects also like Behavioral Finance, etc for students.
Internships Opportunities
There are summer internships provided by the college. The students opt for internships according to their interest. The stipend depended on the companies. The companies don't come separately for taking students. Most of the interviews are conducted on phones only.
Placement Experience
There is a placement cell in the college which is managed by Prof. H.P. Mathur sir. The placement committee consists of 3-4 students and they manage all the activities. right from calling the companies throughout the year, following up with them, managing their campus visits, etc. This gives extra exposure to the students. Companies from different fields visit the college, like, IT, FMCG, Marketing, Finance, etc. Some of them are ICICI Bank, Wipro, HCL, Mahindra Finance, Tech Mahindra, Prism Cements, LIC HFL, etc the average package offered is in the range of Rs. 7-8 Lakhs.
College Events
BHU is a large university which is of around 1300 acres. It has around 22000 students in different faculties. Our faculty is one of them. Our faculty organizes cultural fest Unnayan, winners of which represents the college in the university fest called Spandan apart from this we have cricket tournament every March, and a Management Premier League after that in the boys hostel premises which is a grand event.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee is the best part here. The tuition fees for two years is around Rs. 56,000 for two years. The hostel fee is around 1500 per year the mess is run by students and a caterer has been assigned. He runs canteen there as well. Its charges are around 1000 bucks per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
I don't know of any scholarship. As the fee is too low for a MBA college, I don't know of any student who wanted to avail any sort of scholarship.
Campus Life
The gender ratio in the college is very decent. A lot of girls studied there. The campus life is awesome. 1300 acres of lush green campus with lots of open spaces. Awesome for your lungs and mind. The campus is totally different from Varanasi city. You can interact with all sorts of people here including foreign students who enroll in the university. You can even learn new language like French, German, Spanish, etc. in the other faculties, if you meet their criteria. These classes are mostly in evening time.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel seats are limited and is given according to the Merit list. All rooms are double sharing and has common bathrooms. It also has 2 washing machines which were donated by alumni mess food is ok. Much better than usual colleges. If they degrade the quality, you can always search for new caterer. In BHU, there are numerous hostels for different course. If you want, you can visit their mess also. So a lot of options are there.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni association is very strong. The college has around 4000 alumnus. They have a chapter in all major cities and regular chapter meets are organized around the year. You can anytime interact with them for career direction, tips, guidance and they are always very happy to help you.
Exam Structure
There are 4 semesters in the course and every semester had 2 mid-term exams. The college has a CGPA system. The exams are 3 hour examinations and are not that hectic. We used to get 1 day gap in between all the exams and there used to be 7-8 papers in each semester except in the last one(3 papers and one viva).
Admission
As I was working in Pune at that time, I got the form from college website and then filled the form and submitted it. This was before I took my CAT examinations. Once the results got declared, I got a call from the college for its GD-PI process. The GD process was very smooth. I don't remember the topic but it was conducted properly. In FMS BHU, the students co-ordinate the GD and PI Process. After my GD, I was called for my personal interview. A panel of 4 teachers took my interview which lasted for about 30-45 mins. I was asked various questions, from my hobbies to reasons for opting for MBA. After completing the process, I flew back to Pune the next day and started waiting for the results.
Faculty
The best part of this college is its faculty. All of the teachers in FMS BHU are PhD holders and this only speaks volumes on their credibility. The teachers were always interested in teaching the students all the aspects and tricks of MBA. Sometimes they would take extra classes for the students who needed more help in their studies. They always encouraged us to go extra mile to achieve our dreams.
