The Admission process is pretty much simple and is almost the same every year so I'll just describe the admission criteria in short and then go to the procedures. Admission criteria:- The student must have passed 10+2 in any stream by a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks and English as a compulsory subject. Admission Procedure:- 1. Fill up the application form of NCHM JEE and start preparing for this exam as this is the only way one could get into IHM KOLKATA. This exam is conducted once a year by NTA. 2. Appear in the exam and score a rank under 2000(UR Category) to get into IHM KOLKATA. My AIR was 368. 3. After getting the rank card, NCHMCT will notify you about counselling where you all will be requested to fill in your college preferences. 4. After filling in the preferences, NCHMCT will declare the results of the first round of counselling where you will come to know if you received your desired college or not. Similarly, there will be 2nd & last round.

Since childhood, I've dreamt of becoming a chef and to achieve my dreams, IHM KOLKATA is the best institute in Kolkata. After joining this premium institute, I did not regret it even once. This is one of the best hospitality schools in India. The faculties are highly qualified with massive industry experience, some even have PhD degrees. They're always happy to teach students and tell them insights into this industry. Most of the faculties reside inside the campus only so if you're stuck with something and need help, you'll always have your faculties. Also, they are extremely friendly. They even join us in the badminton or basketball court in the evening. The total strength of our batch is 380 which is further divided into 10 sections which are 38 students in each section. So almost every individual gets faculty attention. The examination happens twice a semester i.e. midterm and term end exams where the midterm is quite easy but to clear term end one must study deep enough to answer.

Internship or Industrial Training whatever you call it is an important & compulsory part of our degree program and without this, no one gets their degree. The IT takes place in 2nd year. The first year is divided into two batches summer and winter. When one batch goes for IT, the other batch stays on campus and studies and vice versa. The first batch sits for IT interviews in the 2nd semester and 2nd batch sits for IT interviews in the 3rd Semester. The highest package was 6 LPA and the average package for the year 2019-2020 was 3.6 LPA There are total 4 profiles on which the recruitment is done by companies:- Associate, OT, MT & Executive.

Well, unfortunately, there is no scholarship for UR students but there is a scholarship for SC, ST and PwD students which keeps changing every year and the details will be available only through college. I'll desribe the fee structure of my course:- 1st Semester - 77,625 2nd Semester- 55,275 3rd Semester- 68,950 4th Semester- 56,700 5th Semester- 76,450 6th Semester- 63,900 Total course fee in 3 year = 3,98,900 The fee hike is not in college hands. Since it's a central government college so there is a decision making body which is NCHMCT who decides how much a fee hike will take place. There is no hard and fast rule which implies. The rate keeps varying every year according to the inflation rates.

IHM KOLKATA has world class infrastructure. Since it's a central government college so the funds are never an issue for our college. You will always find everything updated concerning the industry. We have huge labs, 3 kitchens, 1 banquet hall and 2 restaurants, 1 front office reception and 1 housekeeping lab inside our campus. The library has an ample amount of books one requires for studying. We also have a gym, badminton court, basketball court, huge playground for cricket/football tournaments, parking space, dedicated space for jogging and exercising in the open air. Also, all of our classrooms have been converted to digi classes and all of our labs are air conditioned. We have different clubs too. Some of them are public speaking, debating, drama, dancing etc. and we often have competitions/ functions so that the students stay engaged with college. The biggest thing is that the college charges nothing extra for organising these events.

After the counselling ends and you're finally into your college, the college releases a hostel application form which is filled by the students who are interested in taking hostel. The students get allotted on basis of AIR. The better AIR the more probability of you getting the hostel. My rank was pretty good so I was allotted. The rooms are on a triple sharing basis where every individual gets one bed, study table and one cupboard for their belongings. There are 4 bathrooms on one floor which is shared by the entire floor and the washrooms are both Indian and western styled. Now, talking about the meals, our hostel provides four meals in a day i.e. breakfast, lunch, evening snack and dinner where the lunch is given to non hostelites too because it's a government college and mid day meal is a part of govt's schemes. The food is a mixture of veg and non veg so now really faces any problem. The fees for the hostel is 30,000 per semester which means 60000 a year.
