Shivaji University - A blessing in disguise

The entrance examination is conducted for admission and seat allotment. The entrance examination is a computer-based test, which is conducted in Shivaji University itself. After an exam, a merit list is prepared the top 40 candidates are then called accordingly. Only 2/40 seats are available for all other universities except Shivaji university. Counselling also offers another college in Nepali, other than main campus. Bring all relevant documents and migration certificate during counselling. Also, bring any category certificate or other certificate if you want any quota during the seat allotment.

This is a professional course which has many job opportunities in the corporate and government sector (though more in cooperate sector). It is job oriented course available in India at 3 places in Maharashtra only (earlier Delhi University also had it but not it's not there). There are only 40 students per batch per year in Shivaji University and 40 students in Nepali College affiliated with Shivaji University. All the teachers are PhD and of scientist level who have collaborated and are collaborating with different countries and international Universities frequently. Exams are semester wise and practicals are in annual mode. Deep knowledge of the subject and thorough study is required for a student to excel in exams, but on average everyone can pass with a moderate study.

Placement is made by the student's choices who choose in which company they want to get an internship. Companies like Ross life sciences, Adama, PI ltd etc are mostly preferred it's up to you where you want an internship college will connect to them and arrange your internship if all goes well. The internship field is also to be chosen by you it could be any formulation unit or any other field.

The campus placement is available. There is a dedicated placement cell in the university. The companies in which we apply for an internship during the summer holidays tend to pick u up on the completion of your degree. The average package is 3-4 lakhs. Students get placed in pest control companies or formulation companies. You can also open a pesticides shop or a pesticide manufacturing unit after this degree.

It is a very affordable course for the students who opt for scholarships on basis of caste and all. I have to pay only 1000 Rs per semester as their fee and besides this merit scholarship to the topper of the 1st and 2nd year is also available. The total fee without any scholarship is 20,000/ year for general or open categories. It's a highly affordable and professional job oriented course.

The university is loaded with many features. The annual tech fest is not so big but conducted within the department by the seniors. Along with it, many other activities are also conducted at regular intervals which are uncommon in our northern colleges like they have a theme week in college, where we have to wear different clothes based on the theme on that particular day and have to attend college. The Library of Shivaji University is one of the biggest libraries of Maharashtra with 1000's of books to read both academic and non-academic. There is a well-maintained gym facility, boxing ring, synthetic track and normal track, cricket field etc available on the campus itself. Classes are equipped with projectors and whiteboards.

The rooms are spacious and airy, with only 2 students sharing a room. The food provided is also of good quality. And Sunday is non-veg-day. The registration is quite simple, it is the most affordable hostel. I have ever been to, the room charges are around Rs 4000 per year excluding mess charges which are around Rs 1300-1600 per month, which includes 2 meals in a day -breakfast and dinner. The hostels and pg are all surrounding the university within a radius of 1 km.
