Remarks
The admission was done according to cap rounds and it was a fairly straightforward process. I had applied to NHITM, Datta Meghe, Rizvi for Civil Engineering and got my admission in NHITM in the first round itself.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose civil engineering as this a profession that has high demand and core part of human society. The class strength is 60 and usually has 1:10 faculty: student ratio. The Civil Engineering department that I was part of has a smooth running. Everything is well maintained and organized. Our HOD was constantly open to feedback and always had an extremely helpful attitude. All of our complaints were always heard. The faculty in my department are well experienced. As someone who suffers from health issues, they were always helpful and understanding to all of my circumstances. The quality of education is excellent and they always ensured that we had always had the necessary resources for the exams. In classrooms, we had a friendly atmosphere for learning. My batch was the first batch of the Covid pandemic and in that stressful situation, they were sympathetic and supportive.
Internships Opportunities
Our faculty is very helpful to us in finding internships. Some students also applied externally. Civil engineering internships are mostly on Construction sites. Both in the private and government sectors. There are also opportunities to do office work in architecture workspaces. Civil Engineering being a vast field there are many options to choose to work as an intern.
Placement Experience
Students can apply for placement from the 7th semester. The placements are good Infosys, cognizant, TCS, Wipro, etc are here for placements. Due to covid situation, there is a generally low new recruitment.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are government-provided scholarships and freeships. The fees are similar to all the engineering colleges in and around Mumbai. The engineering field itself has a great cost. And with the campus infrastructure, and placements we get our money's worth. There is no availability of campus jobs here.
Campus Life
The tech fest is called Technozon and is held in September, its a fun-filled and innovative two days fest with tons of activities. The cultural fest is called Kshitijam and occurs in February/ March and is again a very exciting time in college. The same goes for the sports days, they too provide a great time and relief for the daily hectic life. The library is well equipped on all subject matters. So are the classrooms and laboratories. There are various inter-college competitions from academics like paper presentations to sports and cultural activities of Mumbai university. Our college always encourages us to take part. We have departmental clubs where seminars and cultural events are arranged. I was part of the CESA.
