Entrance Preview

There was no entrance exam in those times. I got admission in AISSMS based on my 12th PCM score. I opted for this college as it is in central location of Pune and is only one of the 4 engg colleges which had electrical engg course back then

Internships Opportunities

College did not provide any internship back in those times. Infact i am not aware of any engineering colleges in Pune university giving internship.

Placement Experience

0.5

Not one of the best in Pune. Students mostly look for opportunities on their own after passing out. For Electrical none of the companies came for campus interviews. I guess computer science was the only branch which had some campus interview process.

Fees and Financial Aid

Nope. There were few waivers for backward class students but these were directives of central govt rather than college.

Campus Life

Campus life was such that one need not even go to Himalayas for practicing celibacy. Gender ratio was very poor. Electrical engg was one of the best branches to have good gender ratio as compared to other ones and we had only 9-10 girls in class strength of 74. Campus life was entertaining as it was bit of exercise to find right classroom and was a valid excuse to enter late in lectures.

Hostel Facilities

I guess hostel facilities were available for girls. They were decent. Not sure about men hostel. But there are many hostels in Pune & one can choose as per their budget, location and lifestyle. Renting out flats is also a good option to consider if some students like privacy while studying.

External Expense: Rs.7000 - Rs.10000

Exam Structure

8 semesters spead across 4 years. 5 main subjects in every semester (100 marks each) . Exams usually stress out students a lot 2months before their schedule. Downside is exam calendar comes only 1 month prior to exams which is short notice for many non-residents to make travel arrangements and be back in time for exams.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty was average. Not one of the best in university for sure. Some lecturers just read out their notes instead of teaching. While others were brain twisted when asked with questions. Personal rapport with teachers reflected more in internal marks than performance of the student in the semester.

placements start in 7th - 8th semester . Companies like wipro cisco and TCs etc visit. Average package is 4-5 LPA , and highest I could say 9 to 10 LPA .. my plans would be- if not got high paying job on campus I will try off campus too..

Placement Experience:

In my college students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester and every year many companies come for hiring. Recently companies like TCS Accenture Cognizant Hitachi JSW Group Philips Axis Bank and some startups also visited so we get both IT and core chances. As per the latest data the highest package was around 24 LPA and the average stays around 6 to 6.5 LPA for most students and the lowest offers start from 3.5 LPA so it depends a lot on the role and company. Many students get placed but it mostly depends on skills performance and branch so it is not guaranteed for everyone. I feel the college gives decent chances but we also have to do our own preparation because competition is high. If I dont get placement from campus then I will try off campus also because there are many openings outside specially in IT. Overall placements are good for this level college and since companies keep coming for drives students who prepare properly usually get at least one offer.

SIT is best engineering college of Pune!!

Placement Experience:

If one wants direct placements in comapnies such as Wipro, Cognizant, Hexaware, TCS and many more, SIT is the place. Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

From seventh semester ,students are eligible for placements. Companies like tcs, infosys, cappgemini, accenture are common for hiring. Almost 60 percent strudents get placed. My plans after degree is placement plus MS/MTech if a good gate score.

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. Admission: I had also applied for top colleges of Pune with tech related branches but the main reason I can't get their is due to high cutoff of colleges I had applied for top colleges like VIT Pune,PCCOE Pune ,PICT Pune ,D.Y.Patil Pune etc and through cap process depending on my percentile I get my current college AISSMS IOIT Pune and I confirmed for these I sorted the colleges depending on some parameter like last year cutoff, placement percentage, autonomous or not etc My college is in Maharashtra so around 80% of seats given to the students who are admitted through Maharashtra state entrance exam for engineering that is MHTCET and remaining 20% are seat are for candidates who admitted through JEE MAIN score so most students peffered MHTCET Exam for admission in our college The overall addmission process is like after declaration of result student make list of colleges and branches those he want to take that list is in a sequential manner then student had to upload that list on portal of MHTCET after 2-3 day result of that list comes and the college which is allocated seen to us then it depend on us that we want to confirm that college and branch or go for next round total 3 rounds are take place in that process and after confirmation of college reporting has been done offline to the college for final addmission process...Read More

Reviewing the journey up till now !!

I gave several exams and cracked them , but due to some or the other factor , I couldn't choose any other college. Due the ongoing CBSE boards, I couldn't register for MHTCET which is apparently a state exam for MAHARASHTRA . You can opt for different colleges in MAHARASHTRA after giving this exam.
