Life at IIT ISM

This college was my first choice as it is well known for its earth science branches. However, I also applied for vit but I did not take admission there because you just can't compare a private college with this highly prestigious government college. I get admission here in the open general category. The criteria were the jee advanced rank and all the counseling was done by jossa . The counseling was done in various rounds.

Well, my rank was not enough to get cse in any IIT so I start searching for special branches of a particular college and I found this as the most reliable choice as it is the only IIT in which petroleum engineering is taught and the placement scenario is also good. The professors here are highly qualified and the faculty teaching a particular class also changes often regularly there is no deficiency of professor anyhow. All the things are very professional here. The academic calendar was followed throughout and not even a single exam was postponed or preponed. The difficulty level of exams is also above average and if you didn't study throughout it is going to be tough for you to pass the exam.

We have seen our seniors getting internships from their 3rd year in various companies both Indian and foreign. However, in the first 2 years of study, you can work on projects but I don't think any internship is offered as you have very little knowledge of your stream till then.

The placement scenario at our college is also good. There are various companies that visit the campus during the placement season. Various students get internships from their 3rd year. Various programs for startups are also conducted by the clubs. Almost all big companies ( it sector and core sector) visit our campus and the number of companies visiting the campus is also increasing year by year. In my department ONGC , crain is the main recruter .

We have a tuition fee of 100000 per semester for the general category without any scholarship. The cost for a hostel is around 1000 and for the mess, it's around 15000. There are various mcm scholarships available based on your cgpa and annual family income. The campus provides great opportunities for internships and jobs. However, I did not get any scholarship there due to the annual income barrier.

There are many fests conducted in our college both cultural and tech fest. Srijan is a cultural fest, very popular here brings a lot of cherish and excitement. And the tech fest occurs in summer appreciated by a lot of participation. We have a great library too consisting of almost every book ,. For us, the use of e resources of library is also there. There are various clubs I mean there are a lot, from robotics to dance, from programming to photography, I don't think there is any field whose club is not here.

We are not allowed to choose a room or room partner at our convenience but it is automatically allocated at the time of registration in college. The menu of mess also looks ok. The hostel and mess are very cheap in terms of price when compared to private colleges, which obviously means it is a government-funded institute.
