Remarks
I have approached various universities for admissions, such as LPU Jalandhar, CAAD Chennai, Sri University Odisha, and Satyabhama University Chennai. LPU Jalandhar doesn't have it's the best faculty for architecture anymore is what I heard from a student who's currently pursuing architecture in LPU.CAAD Chennai was a recently established institution, having SRMIST and Satyabhama as options, an educational advisor has suggested I go for SRMIST. Sri Sri University Odisha has great faculty and good ambiance for a student but I chose SRM after reviewing both the universities and I love the city of Chennai, so that eased my decision. Like I have discussed before that an educational advisor suggested me to go for SRMIST, therefore I chose SRMIST over Satyabhama University. I have not availed for any quota.Class 12 qualified candidates from Science stream and recognised Board with a minimum overall aggregate of 50% are eligible. The admission process here in SRMIST was quick and elaborative.
Course Curriculum Overview
My father was an entrepreneur in this field and I had a personal liking towards architecture. The student-faculty ratio here is 1:14 The faculty is absolutely amazing, they understand the student and help them get through any difficulty with patience, which is deeply required in this pandemic situation. The faculty is certainly well qualified and all of them hold a high understanding of the subject. They have practical experience which adds up to the pros. Term exams were well-timed and the difficulty of the paper was standard, different student has a different answer for this question since the difficulty of the paper is determined by the hard work, confidence, and preparation of the student.
Internships Opportunities
I cannot list down and describe the internship programs offered here in SRMIST, since I'm in the 1st year and I haven't been to the campus yet (which adds up to the misery). But there is a student exchange program and numerous internship programs available here in SRMIST is what I have acquired from my seniors.
Placement Experience
I will get back to this question after a few years, only then would I able to justify my opinions. But I'd surely disclose what my plan is, I have open options after completing my degree. 1) I'd opt for M. Arch in a renowned abroad University and go for placement from there. 2) I'd focus on the placements, get a job, acquire practical experience and then go for M. Arch. 3) I'd do an internship under an architect or a firm and then do my M. Arch
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee per annum is 280000(tuition fee) and 120000(hostel and mess free). The University offers a scholarship for students who excelled in semesters accordingly. Since I have not been to the university due to the pandemic, I have no proper information about on-campus jobs or financial assistance. The fee is too high for UG and the exam fee is excluded from the overall tuition fee we pay, and since I'm in the 1st year, I do not have the complete experience of SRMIST, Chennai.
Campus Life
I was told SRMIST is the university for best social life by my seniors. I cannot comment on this aspect of the review since I have not been to the university. It is about personal experience and I haven't had any yet. But, I'm rating this on basis of what my seniors have disclosed.
Hostel Facilities
I have registered myself to a university unit categorized for the 1st year. But it is the same here as well, I cannot give an opinion on it since I haven't been to the university yet. But I'll rate it from what I have learned from my seniors.
Other Applied Colleges
Lovely professional University, Jalandhar | B. Arch
I was told by my relative who is a student in LPU, that the college does not have a good faculty.
