Remarks

The admission process was great and the staff helped a lot. Counseling teachers were very helpful, they helped answer our queries. Jalan college helps you even with your notes. The environment of our college was great indeed. There are many departments in Jalan college.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose Hindi honors as my major. The Hindi department is quite helpful and the teachers are very nice. The lectures and notes are very helpful. Most of the students don't even need to take extra lessons because Jalan college provides proper notes on the basis of your curriculum. There are 4 teachers in every department and they're all quite helpful.

Class Size: 50Course Fees: INR 5685 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Jalan college also provides privileges to students who can't pay their fees because of financial issues. Jalan college also provides scholarships. This college is very serious about its rules and regulations, never try to break them otherwise you'll face some serious issues. Teachers are very strict.

Campus Life

campus life is quite strict. It's a good college for completing under graduation. Teaches you good discipline like a school, teachers are familiar and helpful. Studying is a must. They explain everything in a very swift and easy manner and never get frustrated. Moreover, it has maintained its decorum which is really necessary for all students at this stage of their life.

Interview Experience

It's a college for women. It is located in the College Street area, Bankim Chatterjee Street. very disciplined, strict college. Seth Soorajmull Jalan Girls' College is committed to being an instrument of positive change in women's education for the benefit of society. It is a girl's college under Calcutta university.

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.

Presidency University: A hope of light but needs a lot of upgradation

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Department of Bengali is one of the oldest Bengali department in the state. It offers undergraduate honours and postgraduate courses. Recently, they have started PhD courses as well. The Bengali department is actively engaged in research in hot topics in literature. The curriculam of Presidency university is most diverse among all other University, colleges in the state. It begins with very basic topics at the first year and ends with very specific research level papers at the final year. The syllabus is so advance that bachelors students can compare themselves with the masters level students after completeing the course. I will mention the bachelor course curriculam in summary: Semester I- Prachin Bangla Sahitya O Bangalir Itihas sandhan, Bangla bhasar itihas o bhasatotto, Semester II- Prak chaitanya juger bangla sahityer itihas, Madhyajuger bangla sahityer itihas o kabyapath, Semester III- Shorosh o soptodosh shotabdir samaj: itihas o chaitanyadeb, Ashtadosh shatabdir samaj sangkriti, changa-alanlkar o prof sangsodhan, Semester IV- Adhunik juger udbhab, gadya o probondho sahitya, kabya-kabitae itihas, natoker itihas o rupbhed, Semester V- Bangla Upanyas, Bangla chotogolpo, Rabindranath, Semester VI- Unish o Bish shataker bangla samaj songskriti o sahitya, bhinna bhasar sahityer itihas o tar obhighat, bharatiya alangkar shatra, sahitya o shilpo. Other than these compulsory courses, there are lot of exceptional elective courses that attracted me more towards joining this prestigious university. Since Presidency University select specific students through their difficult entrance tests, the semester exams should not be difficult for the students, but there are some papers in the course which needs to delt with extra care and attention to get extra marks.

The admission process under Calcutta University is carried out via wb portal in which you can apply for all the interested colleges and you get alloted in any one of them as per your marks and other criteria .. Getting into Jalan was my 3rd prefered college other than this I had appeared for Cuet but I couldn't pursue my degree there because of my parents as they don't consider Delhi a safe option... Then I had options to go to private colleges under CU but pursuing bcom in any private colleges or government college doesn't really make any difference so I selected Jalan college ... BRIEFING ON SSJGC

The admission process was smooth and frustating at the same time. Everyone who passed their higher secondry in commerce field were eligible for admission. We need to personally collect admission form from college which cost around Rs 200 and these college have a period of atleast 3 month after higher secondry result declaration for admission. The admission fee was Rs10000 for this course and alter as we change to other courses. The reservation benefits were restricted only to fee concession as the reserved category paid less fee.No category wise admission were there. There was no such entrance exam required for this as admission were open after the admission window is closed....Read More
