Remarks
After finishing grade 12th, I have decided to choose mechanical engineering for the mainstream. I planned to study within My State ( Tamil Nadu ). Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering , Sriperumbudur. Ranks among the Top universities for mechanical undergraduate Programme and The reason for choosing this college over Others ( I have applied for college such as VIT, Chennai . SRM, katankulathur). I have been selected through the management quota.
Course Curriculum Overview
I personally Have interests in automobile and machines, thus selected mechanical for my mainstream. Our college Provides a Faculty Advisor ( who guides and take responsibilities for no of 25 Students) with a strength of 120 per stream, there is roughly 5 to 6 Faculty Advisor. The Faculties are highly trained and graduate from top universities, who has completed master degrees and hold the doctorate. The Teaching staffs are liberal and friendly. Term exams are conducted once every month - To make students on a regular note with their subjects. Pass percentage - 75% approx.
Internships Opportunities
Internships provide exposure for students to gain experience in the selected domain and observe the best practices that are currently being followed in industries. Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering allows internship to be taken by students from their second semester. These opportunities are provided by the Placement Section as part of campus recruitment. Students are available from May to July (Summer Intern) & December to January (Winter Intern) for taking internships. Students take up internships in the core, IT and ITES companies. The internships at companies will give value addition to the student's community to make them ready to taking real world challenges when they take up full time employment.
Placement Experience
Placement officer Mr Muralitharan (one of the most respected guy) ensures almost all of the students who enrolled for campus gets his offer letter by the time he leaves the coll and he succeed in that. I have seen brainy guys with 7 pointers getting placed in a company with 7 LPA and a 9 pointer getting placed in TCS. marks don't matter in placements. If u know, u can get placed in a 10 LPA company. It's not a miracle. At the time of placements, scenarios will change. 7 pointer would've got placed in a product company and he'll teach aptitude to 8 pointers. If u want to pursue your higher studies, I would say SVCE is best. Recommendation letter from the topmost professors of svce are most valuable (of course they'll not give to everyone, only those who deserve it). And in end, all of u would've known, SVCE has a strong alumni base, either they're in other countries or India, they always stay in touch.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Fees structure differs from student to student and stream to stream For NRI students, Native Students, International Students. The Fee varies accordingly. It is roughly around 1.5 lakhs to 2 Lakhs per year.
Campus Life
Sports and co-curriculum - They have all but it's not that great. The sports scenario is like this: "Take care of those in charge and you will be in the team". No proper trials for selection. If you have a senior guy from your school in the team then don't worry if your selection cause they finalize the decision. There are two very active clubs called HOPE & CARE (HOPE is a student organization, the college has nothing to do with it) Other clubs are not that active if they exist at all. There is of course the usual NSS and NCC. The NSS will arrange frequent programmes.
