Remarks

I have applied for JEE for this particular course then I've got the results and cut off and according to the cut-offs I got this college. But I wanted to apply for IHM Pusa but because of my cut off, I got to this college. I have my quota in the obc non-creamy layer which have different cut-offs for different colleges. The cut off generally lower as compared to general quotas for which I've to show the obc non-creamy layer certificate at the time of document verification. For admission is a pass in the examination of the 10+2 system of Senior Secondary Education or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of studies (Core/Elective/Functional) in the qualifying examination. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can appear in JEE 2021 on a provisional basis which has to be submitted at the time of document verification and the minimum age for applying for this course is 18 years minimum. Familiarise with college premises selected.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I was interested in cooking and kitchen and also I got some talent and some knowledge about this course so that's why I choose this course. Faculty was very nice and supportive they all have very good knowledge in their respective departments which helps the students in growing in their particular field. There is about a 60:40 ratio between boys and girls respectively. All the facilities have done master's in their respective field and very supportive nature and as it is a practical course so of course, they choose the practical way of teaching their students and which is very effective and efficient for the students to learn. Regular assessment and exam are also a part of their teaching. After every 16 weeks, there is the term-end examination which is not very difficult to pass and the portion also is not very much so that the student can assess knowledge and apply them in their respective fields.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Our college also provides students with internships which is for 17 weeks. I have done my internship from "The Lalit" new Delhi wherein I get to work in 4 core departments of the hotel industry i.e. housekeeping, front office, food & beverage service, and kitchen department. This internship helps the students to learn various other things which they can't learn in the college as we get a chance to work in a live running hotel and have to deal with the guests also. This is the best thing to get exposure to this industry and helps to decide in which field a student has to go as it provides great exposure to each department of the hotel industry. Hotels also give a stipend to their trainees which varies from hotel to hotel. My stipend was rupees 1500 which is good enough as our priority to do an internship is to get practical knowledge of various departments and not to earn money like in a job.

Placement Experience

5

College placement is very good for this college. In the third year, a student becomes eligible for the campus placement drive where various companies and brands come to hire the students. Big companies and hotels come for the placement such as taj hotels, itc, Accor group of hotels, Marriott and so on. But not only hotels but also retail companies comes for the placement such as puma, bata, Nike and apart from this some "quick-service restaurant" brand also comes for the placement such as McD, cafe coffee day, Starbucks etc. Almost 100% of the students get placed in college. But it also depends upon your ability and skills. The highest salary package offered here is 5 LPA, and the average salary package offered varies from 3 LPA - 4 LPA. My plan after getting the degree is to look for jobs that are related to this industry say aviation as I want to earn but there are fewer opportunities for this industry due to this pandemic as hotels are running on losses and the tourism sector is down.

Fees and Financial Aid

As these IHMs of all states are run and is operated by the ministry of tourism, the government of India it's them who decide the fee structure of the college of the particular IHM(institute of hotel management) of that particular state according to the current situation of that state the government decide the fees of the college. Yes, there is a scholarship scheme availed for the students on the basis of their financial status. But these scholarships are state-sponsored and the institute has nothing to do with it, you have to just obtain noc, sign and seal from the institute on the scholarship form(to be downloaded from the state government website portal) and submit it. Our college also gives a chance to the students for internships in various hotels to give the students exposure to the hotel industry. And there is also a stipend paid by the hotels which vary accordingly. There are also campus placement opportunities for the students in which many hotels come for the placement by conducting interviews.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus of IHM Bangalore is not big as a company to other IHM campus but here also college organises annual function every year and also bring many other professionals or celebrity chef to colleges to advice the students and to teach the students. There are also sports activities conducted by our college every year in the month of February in which students take part and make that sports week more interesting for eg cricket, volleyball, table tennis etc. There is a library also in our college from where the students can issue some books and study or gain knowledge from them. There is almost every book available about all departments which obviously help the students. Various clubs and groups are there such as "faces club" in the front office, "ghaironda club" in housekeeping department etc and in these clubs, they organise various events every week to socialize with everyone out there and to enjoy with the education.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

This college provides a hostel facility also which is outside the campus around 8km away from the college but it is near the metro station so there is no difficulty in the transportation hardly takes 20 mins to go to the college. The hostel is very well maintained and very beautiful, the rooms are also nice and clean they've got wardrobes for each student accomodating 3 students in one room which is big enough to stay for 3 students. Two meals provided in a hostel on the working days (one meal provided by the college) and 3 meals on weekends or public holidays. The food is good and they give enough to each student to full their stomach. It is easy to apply for the hostel you just have to tick the yes option in the form where you've been asked whether you want a hostel or not and then they give a list on a merit basis and the student then gets a room in the hostel alloted by the college. The locality of the hostel is nice and good which is near to the metro station around 800m away and everything is easily available.
