Ignored SI more focused Final placement

I selected this institution because of its good location and good placements in the same League of institutes. I didn't want to go to IIM if it is in a remote location. Vizag is a very good city to live in. Admission was based on a number of evaluation components. WAT, PI, and SOP. It took place almost last in all IIMs. So I had a good experience of interviews. It helped a lot for IIM Visakhapatnam. I many times referred pagalguy website for feedback.

It's a new institute. The faculty student ratio is slowly increasing. Many visiting faculties are from IIM Bangalore. They are very good. Some internal faculties are also nice. Few internal faculties are not at all good. But it is the case everywhere. Institute follows the schedule very strictly. And involves mid-term, end term, quizzes and projects for most of the electives. Only a few people get deficit points that too faculties discretion. Passing is not the issue. But scoring is papers are difficult most of the times.

Last year pandemic caused many students to lose opportunities. I was among them. Need to settle on an internship that was free. Not much learning. Summer placements are not as good as final placement. We have to settle with whatever role or domain is being offered. There is much scope for improvement.

Almost 100% batch is placed. One two are remaining but that too because of their bad academic performance. Almost 80 companies visited campus. Packages vary from 8 lac to 18 Lacs. AVG will be around 12-13 Lacs. The recruiter info can be available on the website. The placement report. But the numbers are not inflated and it's true as per my knowledge.

Given the facilities, fees I'd justified. One of the best facilities. Except for outdoor sports. But students get a good sports complex outside. Some people with genuine financial problems get some concession. All central govt scholarship is there. Students of different states can avail schemes of their respective states. But nothing much for open category students. All facilities are for other categories. Again this is a story everywhere. Fees are being hiked regularly by some 10%. I' didn't get any scholarship or financial assistance.

There are many clubs and societies. Institute is very liberal for students activities. We had a good budget for the inter-iim sports event Sangram. Also, we have a cultural fest called Samarambh. We could access books from all IIMs library. The classroom was very modern and nice. Overall infrastructure was very good. Few things were not there but once the permanent campus gets set up that issue will be resolved.

Food quality was ok. But had a menu for both south and north Indians and veg Non-veg people. All rooms had AC, tables chairs, writing board. Each flat had washing machines, a refrigerator, an electric kettle and all. Overall hostels were very very good. First year we had a beach Hostel.

WAT+PI, No GD, Topic for WAT - Uniform Civil Code. Location Mumbai. The interview started with basic info questions. They asked me about my graduation, some basic Boolean algebra questions. Some GK questions. My opinions about social issues and my depth of understanding these issues. Also questions like why MBA, why IIM Visakhapatnam etc.
