Remarks

I chose to attend this college as I loved the modern infrastructure and educational conduct over here. As the college is new, compared to other Engineering colleges, there are a lot of opportunities over here which we students can bag and increase the reputation of ourselves along with colleges. The admission process is regular and simple through CAP rounds. You need to visit the college just once or twice to confirm your admission over here. My reason for preferring this college over others is its location. From my home to college, I don't have to travel by train and can just reach college by bus. The bus service is also provided by the college itself. Also, the college is located in a calm and pleasant village area where there's not much noise and chaos in the city; thus making it an ideal place of study. I went through the college website: universalcollegeofengineering.edu.in for the extra details. They also provide a 360 virtual tour of the college which is quite helpful to everyone.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I've chosen Computer Engineering as I had an interest in this field since junior college. I always wanted to pursue a career in Computers and Universal College of Engineering provided me with an excellent opportunity of the same at my comfort. The faculty: student ratio is about 1:6 in every department including the Computer Department. There is a Head of Department, a Dean and several Assistant Professors in Computer Department. All faculties over here are at least a post graduate and have a specialization in some of the other stream under Computers. The most important factor I found is most of the faculties are quite young and have a fresh experience. Hence it becomes quite easy and smooth while communicating with them and contacting them form any reason without hesitation is possible. Even their teaching method is quite connecting to us as not much generation gap is involved. Exams are held regularly as per MU and level of exam is moderate; but well testing of knowledge is ensured thoroughly.

Internships Opportunities

4

The Computer Department of Universal College of Engineering has an Internship Cell managed by the faculties. It helps in providing internships and other such opportunities to students of various domains and years of Engineering. The online internship platform Internshala is promoted in our college and we have campus ambassadors of the same to promote and provide internships from Internshala to various students through proper systematic procedure and performance. Many companies with a diverse range of roles and stipends are available and offered to all students with equal opportunities. Some internships provide stipend while others include non-monetary benefits & perks only. I have not acquired any internship through college, but have completed one externally through a friend's contact in his company. I worked in the domain of Data Analytics and Operational Management, where I managed the main Dashboard of the website of the company along with the designing of its public view on the front end.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students become eligible for Campus Placements since Semester 6. However, most companies prefer the recruitment of students from Semester 7 i.e. once they are in their final year of BE program. A good number of companies; almost more than 25 companies visit and recruit students from all the departments available in college. Each company offers a count of students to recruit as per their requirement and organisation affordability. The highest packages bagged by students include 12 and 10 LPA whereas the average package is around 5 LPA throughout the college. Profiles of variable ranges including technical as well as non-technical can be found offered by companies. The placement percentage of college is more than 75% across all departments and many students have also moved abroad for further studies by cracking several entrance exams with notable results. My plan after the degree is to acquire a job in my field of interest and create my promising career through efforts and dedication positively.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure here is according to the norms and guidelines provided by Mumbai University. Other than the prescribed amount included in the structure, no other amount is taken by students. The fee structure and hike policy may thus vary every year as per the changes provided by Mumbai University. After paying the fees of the full year (fully or partially), no other cost of the study is incurred to students in the entire academic year. The various quota available here are OBC, SC, ST and TFWS provided by the Government of Maharashtra. The TFWS being a merit quota while others are caste quota. Also, the college is a Gujarati Linguistic Minority Institution, so there's this one more quota available. Also, after admission students who didn't fall under any of these quota categories have an option of the EBC (Economically Backward Class) Scholarship, wherein they can apply and on successful application, half of their fees will be refunded. I secured a job in TCS with a stipend of 5LPA on the campus.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest of college is VYRO conducted in the month of February which includes a lot of technical and fun events for all students of various colleges. In a similar fashion is the tech fest carried out named as Tantrotsav where technical competitions related to domain are conducted. The college library is well equipped with all the reference books, magazines, journals, etc. available in large numbers; enough to satisfy the needs of every student at the same time. The digital library provides thousands of e-books, thus one can study his topic of interest to his heart's content. Classrooms are spacious and airy with daily cleaning and tidiness maintained. All classrooms are equipped with projectors for digital learning and presentations. Aurora - Sports Week is conducted for the entire college to inhibit sports activities, in January. NSS, CSI, IEEE, IET, ISA, CESA, ACES, Rotract Club, are the clubs and student chapters available in college; which are run and benefitted by all students.

Interview Experience

4.5

The TCS had a systematic method of recruiting students which included an Aptitude Test as the beginning, followed by 2 personal interviews. No GD was involved in this particular recruitment process. The Aptitude Test was a decent challenging one to test one's logic and understanding of conceptual knowledge in that field. Upon acquiring at least a certain cutoff score in the test makes you eligible for the first PI. This PI is technical and questions related to the field and its topics like Java, Python, Machine Learning, PHP, C, C++, Data Structures, Networking, Microprocessor, etc. are asked. Clearing this stage leads to the next one which is PI (technical+management). This is taken by HRs and management level questions are focused to test the candidate's wit and conduct as an employee. Once clearing this round, confirms your job in the organisation and soon will receive your offer letter. The college provides training on Aptitude and Placement since Semester 6. I prepared over here.

Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus. Practical v/s theoretical balance: Labs, workshops and real world projects are a core part of the structure, especially in engineering, design, and science programs. CIA like case studies, presentations, and assignments encourage hands on learning. However, in some programs, there is a still heavier focus on the theory, so students must actively seek extra learning resources
