Review of my college

Often there are certain disturbance between various departments of the college and which results to a fight and most of the times the college management doesn't do anything about it.

I did my Bachelor in Computer Applications and wanted to do my MCA (Masters in Computer Application). For that I had to give the JECA entrance exam which is organized by the WBJEE. The JECA rank I received was 2951 which wasn't a good score. I opted for RERF i.e this college because of the fee structure that they had offered, which was much cheaper than the other colleges you would get to select from if your rank isn't that good. For MCA, this college didn't demand any too high admission fees and also the semester fees were around INR 36000 whereas for other colleges it would easily go up to INR 40000.

The Course structure is a matter of MAKAUT, which is the University under which RERF and most other colleges in West Bengal are affiliated too. If you are going for MCA, you will be introduced to Programming languages like C, C++, VB and Java. DBMS, Linux, Networking, Graphics etc are also a part of the course. Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing and many other subjects are offered to the students as optional subjects. In the final semesters, the students require to create Software Projects or submit Research Papers.

No, the college doesn't provide any kind of internship. However the faculties might help out students to get a internship in certain companies, based on personal reference.

The placements and job opportunities isn't a bright prospect for this college and also majority of colleges in WB. However!! From last year which is 2015, the condition has improved quite a bit, thanks to the efforts of College administrators by recruiting a new Training and Placement Officer. Last year (2015) several small companies came to the college and a certain percentage of students were recruited. In case of MCA, we had around 40 students in our batch. Out of 40, around 15 students were placed.

There isn't much to say here in this department. A main fest is held every year around September or October which is usually a 2-3 day affair where some well known Bands or Singers are invited to perform. Other than that students from almost every department perform here.

The fee structure is extremely feasible. I will provide the MCA information. One can compared to other colleges where the semester fees for MCA goes as high as up to 75000 INR, the semester fees here is INR 36000. Apart from that if you have good marks in your 10th, 12 and Graduation, you will receive a discount on the Semester fees.

As far as my knowledge, if you have a certain percentage of marks in your 10 and 12 (grads if applicable) you are offered a scholarship. Also if you have financial problems and you are a bright student and have documents to prove that, then you can apply for scholarship. Campus life is great. The campus itself is very beautiful with plenty of green around. There is no ragging and the college authorities pay keen attention towards it. The gender ratio is normal with almost equal ratio of boys and girls in the campus. Football and Cricket tournaments are held though at a very small scale. All the departments participate in these tournaments. There is nothing to write about race, religion, sexual orientation and politics.

I haven't stayed in a hostel or mess of PG so I cannot provide proper information based on hostel. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. The hostel facilities are pretty good and as per as my knowledge it isn't too expensive. They provide WiFi high speed connection too. The college canteen is open through out the day and most of the hostel students come here for lunch and dinner. The college canteen provides good food in a pretty cheap price. Around the college premises, almost every day new buildings are being set up for PG purposes. So getting accommodation near the college is easy. Also several 'dhabas' and small restaurants are being set up.

The senior students are helpful. In my case, I always received help from seniors based on previous year question papers, suggestions etc.

Again! The exam structure is a MAKAUT business. Based on MAKAUT's exam structure we had two Internal Exams and the main Semester exam. However, apart from this main structure we often used to have certain weekly tests or lab tests or even surprise tests taken by our professors. A certain amount of our daily life was consumed by completing lab assignments.

The faculties are good. They are highly qualified and experienced. What is better is that the teachers or professors are friendly and they are always available to the students for any kind of help regarding studies or any kind of problems a student might face in a college.
