BCREC: Leading College In Durgapur

The curriculum is relevant and covers key IT topics like programming, DBMS, and AI, which influenced my choice. It prepares well for jobs and higher studies, but needs updates on modern tech like cloud and data science. Exams are held twice a semester and are moderately difficult.

BCREC provides us internships in companies like Celebal Technology, Rt Camp, and Cognizant as a Developer with a stipend of 15-20k per month. Students work on real projects like app development, database management, and AI models, gaining practical experience. We complete our project with help of faculty guidance and mentorship.

Placement starts after 2nd semester. Top companies TCS, Maventic , Celebal, and Cognizant visit the campus. The highest package is around 10 LPA, and the average is 4 - 5 LPA. About 75 % of students get placed. after completing my degree, I plan to work in the IT industry .

We have to pay a total of 208000 course fees, per semester we have to pay 49000, and tuition fees are 43000, admission fee is 5000 and lab is 700, for all students(management, SC, ST) fees are same, the college provides government scholarships like SVMCM and student loan.

Campus life is vibrant with annual fests like ZEAL and technical fests like HORIZON in December and January. The library has a wide range of books and journals, and has a facility of group preparation and study in the library. Classrooms have smart boards and projectors. Sports, coding clubs, and cultural societies actively enhance learning and social interaction.

I chose Dr. B.C. Engineering College for its good placements, faculty, and affordable fees. I applied to Techno India and Narula too but preferred BCREC's environment. Admission through WB JECA was smooth, with fair cutoffs; also direct admission is available. Missed one govt college due to the high cutoff.

The college has a good faculty-to-student ratio of about 1:20. Teachers are helpful, approachable, and guide students in studies and projects. Most use practical examples, though a few follow old methods. My best faculty member is our HOD (Prabitra Kumar Dey), who is a genuinely good teacher. The syllabus mixes theory and labs, but some topics need updates. Exams include two internals and one final. Marking is fair, and most students pass. The course is relevant and builds a strong base for future careers.

Nightlife at BCREC, Durgapur is calm and student-friendly. Hostels are accessible until 10PM, cafeterias close by 9 Pm, and the library by 8PM. Students hang out in campus lawns or local cafes like City Center Mall, Fuljhore More,Bidhannagar or nearby cafe. The area is generally safe, and students often relax with friends,sports, or evening study sessions.
