Quality Education.

College management was average however a lot of emphasis is given to the traditions and good college to gel up and learn many things as your stepping college.Offers good level of interest to students while keeping very good lecturers as its basis.

The entrance process was pretty simple and straight forward.Having the required marks in the plus two ,all i had to do was to take the BCA application form and fill it up with the details along with the fees(atleast a small amount) and reserve my seat and it was pretty much simple.Direct admission into the course and no other exams in particular for the entry.

The SIMS, Mangalore was then affiliated to the Mangalore university which had a very organised and structured curriculum keeping in mind the learning curve of average students.The curriculum assumed the students to be from non computer background and started right from the basics and gradually raised the level of learning with each passing semester which helped all the students see their own growth over the years in terms of the knowledge they are gaining and their ease with he subject they studied.also, one point to note is they had very good materials set as textbooks which were from the well known authors and gave deep insights to the subjects.

The college during that time was encouraging students either to do external internships from companies like Dia systems or MRPL and was providing support giving letters from the institute requesting to provide .the other option was to do some internal project for the college under the guindance of an internal faculty.Both ways, it provided ample support to students to explore their creativity and innovative curve.

Placements was pretty high during that time considering other colleges and also had many startups and many call centers come and take us up for numerous rounds of interviewing and all these happened without any fees incurred on the students unlike other colleges where there is a set limit on each offer you earn through your efforts.

There were many events that were celebrated in the college as part of the annual day celbration which had huge crowd invited from the neighboring colleges we also had a very grand graduation day celebration for every student unlike other colleges where it was just on the papers and never actually happened and was never atleast a celebration we had a formal walk and every student was wearing the coat and the hat who would be meeting the principal and getting the graduation completion certificate and of course the photo session at the end.

The fee structure at that time (2010 ) was 20 k per semester for 6 semester and it was in par with the other colleges /universities. Apart from that, we also had to incur the exam fees and other expenses during the project work such as bindings etc .Hence it was not very expensive considering the other courses during that time.

As far as i am aware, there was no special college loan from the college association or such .However, many students did i have regular education loans from the banks with the regular rate of interest. The scholarship was also not that much in trend for professional education at least not publicly.

Over all the college was great for academics, personality building, fun, learnigns and average when it cam to extra curricular activities. It had its seminar hall where we regularly had some guest lecturing and tetchy stuffs being updated,groups of cultural and other interests encored by the seniors however, nothing from much from the college end towards these activities.

I was not staying in the college hostel however, had a few freinds who were staying in the college hostel the hostel was a little away from the college say 3 kms where the college bus would drop them mornign and evning to the place and there was srinivas hostel where Bhutanese students got to stay.Most of them preffred staying there for the first year and changed into a shared accommodation.

Unfortunately, we don't have much of alumni meets or network outside of our personal social groups and networks had been to the college once after many years to meets the lecturers and was very pleased to see those sirs however, other than those we did not have any alumni meets or networks.

exam structure was pretty cool with ideal time outs between subjects and labs which helped us refresh and practice well for the subjects as well as the labs.there was not any room for confusions or hectic schedules planned which aided the students.The exams happened semester wise for the subjects as per the schedule with ideal gaps between theory and practicals and the exams also were scheduled in planned way giving ample amount of time for students to prepare and give their best.

Faculty was the greatest gift this college gives to the students.With all highly qualifies and passionate teachers who would strive and have an expertise knowledge over the subjetcs they teach it was no lesser than center of excellence roles that they played.One of the best classes i still remember are from the Operating system class sir Subramanya bhat sir who enabled me to love the subject and made everything crystal clear and explaining and making us solve many problems step by step and take us to next levels.
