Remarks

The college management is good although a bit rigid in their views. They may view it as being strict which is also necessary. Overall, VIT provides a very good 4 years of life with genuinely good placements at the end of it.

Entrance Preview

I had taken JEE, AIEEE, BITSAT, ComedK, and VITEEE. My rank was 8.4K in VITEEE. I had the option to select from the colleges being offered through AIEEE, Comedk, and VIT. I chose VIT because of the student-friendly atmosphere I had heard about. The facilities were excellent and the fees were not exorbitant as in some other private colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure was very good. VIT has a system of FFCS, Fully Flexible Credit System, which enables the students to select the courses of their choice. Students are not restricted to study what the college wants them to. Thus, students get exposure to diverse topics based on their interests. Research is encouraged and projects are a big part of the assessment of almost all the subjects.

Internships Opportunities

The stipend varies from 15k to 30K. MNCs like Microsoft, Google, Cisco Systems come for campus placements along with startups like Flipkart.

Placement Experience

5

The placement and job opportunities are immense at VIT. Every year VIT creates new records of getting the maximum number of students placed. Dream companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Google, Flipkart offer packages around 15LPA. The average packages for CSE students are around 5LPA with companies like TCS, Cognizant, Wipro coming.

College Events

5

There is an annual tech fest and an annual cultural fest (Gravitas). Both the fests attract students from across India, with a large number of students coming to be a part from South India and Rajasthan. The cultural fest is very fun with student clubs organizing events and stalls to performances by Bollywood and Hollywood artists.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee was feasible. Hostel fee was in the range of 40K to 50K while annual tuition fees were in range in 70K to 80K. There were no hidden charges, you pay for what you get. A part of hostel fees was also refunded at end of each year on a pro-rata basis depending upon the number of days you were absent from the hostel on a pre-declared leave.

Fees and Financial Aid

The local students were offered a very good scholarship and also the state board toppers have a scholarship declared.

Campus Life

4.5

The was absolutely no problem with campus life. The gender ratio is one of the best in Indian engineering colleges. Students from across India are here. There are also many students of foreign nationalities. Extracurricular activities are encouraged. There are many student clubs which one can be a part of and sports teams of the college are also very good.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel amenities provided were beyond imagination. The mess food was bordering on good and alright, no power cuts at all, and options to stay in multi-sharing or single rooms and in AC or non-AC rooms. There was also a night mess around 11 PM during exam times which proved to be a big stress buster for the students engrossed in studying.

Alumni/Alumna

VIT has its own social media platform to help the alumni connect with each other. I haven't had any alumni interactions till now.

Exam Structure

Exams and internals are spread out over the semester. Thus while students don't get too much leisure time, there is ample free time to ensure that students are not too stressed. The library offers a very good resource for all the text material one needs and also to help students study at peace.

Admission

After taking the exam and getting my rank, the counselling dates were announced. I had to appear for counselling on the 3rd day in the first slot. By the time my opportunity came, Mechanical and ECE branches were full, thus the choice of selecting CSE was fairly simple for me. We had to deposit a non-refundable amount of 10K at the time of counselling to reserve a seat. A time of 1 month was given to deposit the remaining amount for the first year fees, failing which the 10K would be forfeited. We also had to submit our original mark sheets of Std 10, 12.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is very experienced and always eager to help. The expertise of the faculties in their respective fields is beyond imagination. Faculties are always ready to encourage the students and help them test their limits. Also, the weaker students are given special attention as per the needs and without any apprehensions on part of the faculties.

In my college, on campus placement opportunitiesd for core biotechnology and life science fields were quite limited, While there were placement drives conducted during the final year, the majority of companies that visited were from IT, customer support, and non-core sectors, which weren't directly relevant to the field of biotechnology.
