IIMA - Indian Institute of Management, MBA, Food & Agri-Business Management
Reviewed on Jan 16, 2021(Enrolled 2019)

Remarks

Good aspects: world's best management course offered in food and agricultural domain according to Eduniversal rankings (EU). The brand value, quality of education, experienced faculty, enriching peer learning. One of the oldest MBA college in India, the Alumni network, Collateral free educational loan with the lowest interest rates for Indian Citizens. Admission process and dates: please check the admission criteria on the IIMA website (as the weightage for different components varies). After the declaration of CAT scores, the institute releases its merit list for AWT-PI within a week or two. The interviews start on the 1st week of February with two slots every day (Forenoon(9-12) and Afternoon (14-17). AWT topic will be given and need to write 200-250 words within 10-20 mins. Post that on the sequential order PI will take place that lasts 20-30 mins depends on the candidate performance. Then or before that certificate verification will be done based on the candidate PI slot.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

As a food process engineer, I don't want to leave my field of interest in food and agriculture. This is the primary reason to pursue this course. Faculty:student ration = 1:5(as far as I remember). Highly qualified and experienced faculty with impeccable teaching that provides the joy of learning to the learners. There will be three terms with two slots per term i.e. total of 6 slots. As IIMA is already known for its academic rigour, don't like to mention much about it but keep in your mind that you're competing with the most creamy layer of the country. The exams are highly application-oriented and it is difficult to score good marks if proper attention wasn't given to the classes.

Internships Opportunities

5

Around 40 firms were participated in the summer internship process and offered about 65+ roles for the batch 2019-21. The placements are 100% and provide the best stipend w.r.t other agribusiness courses (AFAIK). The roles and projects vary across different domains.

Placement Experience

4

Summer placement for the internship will be held during the second term preferably in November. Around 40 firms visited exclusively for FABM students and offered almost 65+ roles (AFAIK) for the 2019-2021 batch. The IPRS authenticated report will have the details regarding the highest and average package. 100% summer placement. I'm not aware of the final placements. My plans after the degree continuing in the corporate job and get rid of the hefty educational loan.

Fees and Financial Aid

PGP-FABM Fee for 2019-21: Rs.11,14,500/year. According to today's news, the new fee is about 28 lakhs for the course (not sure if this info is applicable to FABM as well or not). Depends on economic condition scholarships are provided. Please refer to the IIMA website. Financial Assistance from different banks will be provided without collateral. I got into one of the reputed corporate company with a lucrative stipend amount.

Campus Life

5

A number of fests available according to different interests. A plethora of books available at Vikram Sarabhai Library and numerous journals and databases accessibility. Well furnished and comfortable classrooms. Well equipped sports and gym facilities. Almost 45 clubs are available to choose from the candidate's interest.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel fee was included in the Academic fee itself. The amenities are a wardrobe, one office chair, and a normal chair, cot and bed, a washing machine, hot water, mineral water, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, etc. No registration process as far as I remember and hostel facilities are affordable. It is compulsory to stay during the 1st year of the course and most of the students live inside the campus. So, PG isn't recommended.

Interview Experience

5

AWT Topic: Numerous ranking agencies making business with educational institutes. 200-250 words (10-20 mins duration) PI: Tell me about yourself, BTech Project, Why MBA?, Boyle's law-derivation, graph, and its name, Maxima, Minima (12 concepts as I was an engineer), and Hobbies. Preparation Tips: Know about you, your place and it's importance, current affairs and be honest to the interviewer, give mock interviews (min. of 4-5). I've to mention about interviewers is that they're gentle (wo)men, the interview went comfortably as they gave time to settle down with general chit chat.
