Remarks
VJTI is certainly one of the top colleges in Maharashtra for BTech Program after IITs. The placement process is very very good. The professors aren't that great, but the students educate themselves. Very healthy competition exists which pushes you to work harder and harder. The admission process for me was very simple and straightforward as I got in the first online CAP round and froze the seat. I went through a few quora answers to understand VJTI and HSC professors' guidance, and VJTI was definitely my first choice. I'm in my Final Year in CS right now, and I've had the best 4 years of my life in this college. The infrastructure isn't the best but can clearly be overlooked once you have the yummy food in the canteen.
Course Curriculum Overview
I've always been interested in coding and Computer engineering was the best way to go. My first choice was CE and second was IT but thankfully I got into CE because the competition here is extremely healthy, with some amazing classmates and watching them just inspires me to give my level best too. There are around 30 odd something faculties combined in the CS IT department. However, hardly some of the professors really know what they're teaching, or are good at it. It's mostly self-learning. The grading system is relative, difficulty depends on the teacher. However, most of the students do pass.
Internships Opportunities
Morgan Stanley (87K), Goldman Sachs (75k), WorkIndia(80k), DeShaw(1.5L), Samsung(50k), amazon (50k) are among the many companies who visited VJTI this year for internships to TY students. The role is of a Summer Analyst where projects are mostly coding based, development based. Most companies follow the AGILE Framework so tasks are clearly defined.
Placement Experience
Placements for circuit branches are the best. Almost 100% of the students who opt for placements are placed. Highest package is around 35lpa (Rakuten, work India) which is offered in CS IT department. Companies like Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Samsung, CITI, SAP, Deutsche are among the many high paying companies that visit VJTI religiously every year. Students in TY get opportunities for internships in the campus process, which doesn't usually happen in other units, and students in a final year get jobs through campus placements. Nowadays, VJTI TPO also offers internship opportunities for SY students. I plan on working for a few years and then pursuing further education
Fees and Financial Aid
For all 4 years, we have paid 75000 per year (2 semesters). However, the fees increase for the next batch of students and remain the same for that batch for all 4 years. For example, the batch that came after we had fees around 82500 something and the batch that came after that had to pay a little more. This is, however, fees for the open category. The fees for reserved students and far far less and they have tonnes of scholarships they can claim, effectively making them EARN money instead of spending in the process. All that being said, VJTI fees are far less compared to any other top engineering institute in Mumbai since it is a government institute, so there's not much to complain about there.
Campus Life
Fests are conducted in the month of December. That is undoubtedly the BEST part of being a VJTIan. We have 3 festivals (sports, cultural and tech) in this specific order in December and then have entrepreneurship cell fest in February. Social life in VJTI is absolutely amazing, but you have got to actively WANT to participate to enjoy. The library has been renovated recently and is quite amazing. The clubs in VJTI are Enthusia(sports), Pratibimb(Cultural), Technovanza(tech), ECell, DLA(Debate and Literary Activities), Rangawardhan(Marathi cultural), Digital VJTI, Community of Coders Club, SRA(Society of Robotolics and Automation), Aero VJTI, VJTI Racing and many many more clubs.
