Entrance Preview

Those days, one had to take the CET conducted at TN and those scores along with the Board exam scores will be used for the ranking. But now I think the board exam scores will suffice.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course is structured well. The syllabus is good and the reference texts are good. Problem is with the faculty in the Computer science department, most of them are not very experienced. There is not much emphasis on industry tie-up or research. There are occasionally visiting faculty from industry who teach weekend classes on specialised topics like data structures etc.

Internships Opportunities

I don't think they provide internship now either. The students apply for internship in other companies.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement opportunities are good. The college placement cell is well connected and the best companies go there and hire in large numbers. TCS, Wipro, HCL, CTS and Infosys get the first week slots. They hire in large numbers. There are also many MNCs like Cisco, DELL, Microsoft, Juniper etc. who hire but in smaller numbers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is feasible. Very affordably even by middle class families. In 1998-2000, we only paid about 5K per semester as tuition fee. The hostel and mess fee was separate and it was about 1K per month. We needed pocket money as well for stationary etc. So that came to another 1K per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

The standard government schemes may apply. I don't think the college gives out any scholarship/loan option.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is quite boring. Other than the club activities, there is not much scope for interaction with others.. the management is quite strict about girls and guys hanging out together. I still remember how girls were called to the warden's room to be warned if they are seen walking to the hostel talking to a boy.

Exam Structure

Exam are all closed book and more of reproducing answers learnt from text books. Labs were okay, we had to share systems. But now most students will have their personal laptops they can use. There was only one subject "mobile computing" where the professor said, he does not believe in mugging up protocol header formats to write in exams and gave us open book exams.

Faculty

3

Some senior staff members are very experienced and good. But the rest are mostly fresh pass outs from college. They don't have much teaching experience or industry experience. It is a problem with the computer science department mostly. The faculty is largely floating population.
