My overall experience in UPES, dehradun

The good aspects are that everything is just perfect on our campus the classes, the faculty, etc. The faculty is extremely interactive and understanding. The bad aspects are just that they give us a lot of assignments to do but afterall all colleges have that and plus it is good for our own good. The admission was done in august and the classes were started in October. One thing that I liked about upes is that there was a pre-semester session as an ice breaker for all freshers. During this time also the faculty tried every single thing to make and feel us like a family, This college is considered as one of the best colleges and also that in the design there is a lot of technical points which are helpful for us it is not strictly diverted to design but all fields that are important. I chose this course because of my interest and bend towards drawing and designing and also that I loved to do and create more things. The faculty and student ratio is okay like I did not feel that any faculty is being burdened because of many students and there is one faculty per subject for different years. All the faculty members are very qualified and have had great experience in the industry as well as in the teaching field. The teaching method of all teachers varies in a good way. They make every class seem interesting and not boring and they know how to keep students well involved, the assignments are also quite interesting and fun to do. After every 6 months, we have our jury which is also quite interactive as the faculties try to get hold of all the things done in the whole semester and it does not seem like an exam but just a way to put up your works in front of extremely qualified people.

From the first year itself, students have got the opportunity for doing internships. Having to do unpaid internships in the first and second year first term and paid internship from second-year second term and further to the third year. It depends upon the student whether or not one has to work under in campus internships or not. There are many projects assigned to students whether it is a paid or an unpaid internship.

From the second semester of the third year, a student becomes eligible for campus placements. There are many companies that have a tie-up with upes and new companies also join in so it is hard to keep a track of all of them. Our college also offers student exchange programs. There were many offers and excellent if i mention correctly. The average package was for 2.5L and the maximum package was 10L. A student should have a minimum of 80% in jury and 70% in attendance. I plan to work in a company for atleast two years to gather some experience in the industry and then go for a master's.

The fees I think is okay and not too much considering all the points like classes, assignments, faculty, hostels, mess, the equipment, and the placements. There is a 25% compulsory scholarship for all-girl children and different amounts of scholarships ranging your marks and percentage in 12th standard. I did not require any such financial assistance from anywhere because it was quite reasonable for a private college like this, having amazing courses, amazing faculty, and an amazing view of the Mountains. As such now we only have internships and not job offers till now but our seniors, have got quite an amazing placement with a good package.

There are many clubs in our college for all courses with different interests of everyone. Even during this pandemic, our college tried to do fests online which in turn turned out to be extremely amazing and fun. Every person is given a chance to participate as either a participant or as an administrator. There are approximately 10 fests in a year excluding the jury time. There are all types of books for all courses and the library is quite huge for everyone to fit in, both the campus are really huge and quite spacious. With a really very friendly nature. The classrooms are well furnished and there are different labs for all types of work. The sports and extra curriculum is also taken seriously like our normal curriculum. There are wow Wednesdays every week that are dedicated just for fun. Almost all the clubs are run by students it is just that the respective faculty is there to grant permission for events and to check whether everything is going okay or not, though it does not bother us
