Remarks

Government Thoothukudi medical college is an efficiently performing medical college since 2000. The structure of this College is old and monumental which provides a nice environment. The hospital also has an adequate number of outpatients visits per day which helps the students develop their clinical knowledge effectively. The disadvantage of this College includes the hostel facilities and some infrastructures which are already good but still can be improved.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course as MBBS was my passion since school days. There will be 150 students per class and teaching will be by ppt screening method and the teaching will be efficient. The teaching also includes clinical practices in the hospital in which we can develop interaction with patients. The exams will be conducted annually i.e., once per year and it'll be quite difficult to pass but we can by putting wholesome effort. Internals will be conducted in between and marks will be taken for a percentage in annual exam.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college has a compulsory internship in the college for one year. The internship programme will be helpful for the students to acquire clinical knowledge and develop patient-doctor communication. The management will give salary for the internship.

Placement Experience

5

As MBBS is a professional course all the students could work as a general practitioner. Those who are interested can study pg and can also work in renowned corporate hospitals. The job opportunities after completing the degree will be vast and diverse. All the students can be placed as all are doctors with a license.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of the study will be extremely low when compared to other private medical colleges. The fees will be 13,600 per year for the first year, and 6500 per year for the second year and 4,500 per year for the third year and final year also has the equivalent low fees. Scholarships will also be available for certain categories like BC, MBC, SC/ST and first graduates in the family. The hostel fees will be quite high due to the high quality of food and infrastructures. It covers a minimum of 6500 per month including accommodation, food, electricity, water. The hostel also has a 24 hrs electricity and water supply.

Campus Life

3.5

College life will be very entertaining and also educative. There will be many functions like cultural fests, hostel day celebration, sports day, convocation etc. The library books a large number of books including books of standard foreign authors to renowned Indian authors. The classroom facilities will also be good.

Hostel Facilities

4

The room is quite large for the accommodates and is well ventilated and lighted. The room had all the basic requirements and will satisfy the roommates. The food quality in the mess will be good and tasty. It'll be worth the fees paid. Registration prices will be the same as for colleges. There will also be local hostels near the college at a walkable distance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It deals with patient care and clinical diagnosis along with hands on training the influenced my decision to take up this course. Through ward postings, history taking and case discussion it prepares me well for my PG exams and further future pursuits. Skill based learning should be emphasised more along with small group teaching. Sometimes the close spacing of exams can be very stressful. Difficulty level is appropriate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.
