Course Curriculum Overview

2

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.

Internships Opportunities

5

we are supposed to work one year compulsory internship. we are paid approximately 30k in our internship. here we work in omandurar government hospital, tamil nadu superspeciality hospital and also kasturba ghosh hospital.

Fees and Financial Aid

i paid 18000 as the standard fees. 10000 more as college funds and development fees. this is the standard fees for students. students of sc and st category pay 13000 as fees. the fees is minimal for medicine course as this is a government medical college. scholarships are available for those who need them. it's free of cost for those from a government school. we had to pay 34000 deposit for hostel of which, 15000 is refundable. 30000 is hostel deposit and 4000 is mess deposit. our monthly room rent is 1500 and its 2 sharing. monthly base mess fees is 3300.

Campus Life

5

they have many festivals conducted here. since i am only first year now and its been only 3 months since i joined i am not yet aware of them all. they have many. there are countless number of books in the library and they have many copies of the same book so that its accessible to all students. they have 2 projectors in the classroom so that its easier for us to learn. there is a lot of extracurricular activities and many clubs. we have clubs for bands, sports, quizzes etc.we recently has a sports meet conducted in our college which had several sports such as football basketball chess table tennis tennis etc

Hostel Facilities

3

we have been given 2 sharing rooms. we have very spacious rooms. only 22 students are currently occupying hostel. for 22 students 5 washroom and 5 toilets are provided. they are maintained neatly. we have cleaning helpers available from morning 7 till 5 pm. the food is very good. we have students mess here which means that the students decide the mess menu and take care of it. so the food is excellent. we get non veg every day. our food base fees is 3300 but it is more when we get extras but not very expensive. the room rent is 1500 per month. we don't get air conditioning.

Admission

for the course of mbbs, we have counselling . there are 2 types of counselling , state and all india. i applied in state counselling and kept the colleges i want in the order. 1 being madras medical college, 2 is stanley medical college, 3 is christian medical college vellore and 4 is omandurar government medical college and 5 is coimbatore medical college. my marks were 665 in neet so according to that i was allotted omandurar government medical college in the second round of counselling. the cut off this year for government seat in a government medical college increased by a lot. it is very high. only 50k government seats are available while the no of students who wrote neet were 24 lakhs. the competition is very very high. it is tough to get a seat in a government medical college.

Faculty

5

the faculty to student ratio is excellent. we have 6 professors in just one subject for 100 students. they have given mentors as well to each student, where each professor gets 3-4 students to mentor personally throughout the whole course, which is very useful. the faculties are very approachable to us. they are approachable regardless of what problem we have, be it personal or professional. my favourite faculties are Dr. Thuslima ma’am and Dr. Anjana ma'am. they are the most excellent at teaching their subject and are very approachable. exams are tough and we have them every week. we have written 100 marks exam every monday and then later on viva, discussing and practical exams as well. it's tough to keep up with our exams and practicals every week while also studying for our weekly portions taught as well

Night Life

5

there are gyms just opposite to our college and a famous public gym adjacent to our college. since our college is at the main area, the famous Marina beach is just 800 meters from our college. our in timings are 8:30pm. we have EA mall only 2kms from our college. we have Metro at our college which helps in having great connectivity throughout chennai . we can go anywhere using the bus which we can board just opposite of our college. the central railway station is just 2 kms or one metro station away from our college hence providing great connectivity and ease for us to travel to our hometowns etc. there are many places to hangout nearby including the famous bilal mount road.

Placement Experience:

The students in their internship will get around 35000 per month excluding their mess fees, they have the option to opt out of the mess. And once they finish their internship they had to do two years bond in places where the colleges allot them and the salary for those two years will be decided by the place the person goes and itll be definitely more than what they get during internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college strictly follows NMC rules and which is a very good thing as it helps us prepare for both theory and practical as theory give u the vast knowledge and practical allows us to imply what we learnt and also after the new rules of introducing histology we can also apply the idea of more creativity in a field a lot of creativity is yet to be unfolded they also cover important aspects through regular workshops and educate us with guest lectures from other colleges the important improvement which should be done is having the patience to teach a. Crowd of 250 which teachers should undergo special 2-3 classes to make sure they know what they teach is being reached out to everyone the timing of exam and everything is on time theh give us enough time to prepare and get ready
