Remarks

We didn't get any technical training that is software used in travel industry and that I feel was a minus point for us after passing out of the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum included world geography, Indian and international tourism aspects, organisation management and air ticketing. There were also grooming sessions on how to get dressed well and look profeesional. We had presentations and group projects on various topics related to travel industry.there were field visits to tourism development corporations, various road shows and we also traveled a lot during our course. We also had an internship of 3 months to be completed to gain knowledge of how the corporate companies in travel and tourism actually worked. It gave us first hand experience on what to anticipate once we have been placed in the company. I was fortunate enough to get an on campus placement during the course itself into a reputed tour operator.

Placement Experience

4.5

Yes, we had internship and placements during our course. In fact, the second semester was solely assessed on our 3-month internship experience. The assessment form was filled by our department managers where we did our internship. Regarding campus placement, at out time all major companies and MNCs of travel industry such as Thomas Cook, SOTC, Kesari had conducted interviews and selected Freshers for their companies. During our batch, only one girl was not able to get placement, rest all got jobs through campus placement.

College Events

4.5

There were lots. We had an annual cultural event around December where students showcased their talent in dance and songs. Then on world tourism days, we conducted a march from gateway of India till CST station. We had loads of trips to important sites of city and surrounding areas in our tenure. Regarding participation, the entire class had to participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for the whole course back then was around 40000 for a year and a half course. Now the post graduation has been upgraded to a Master's degree. Initially, there was a small fee.for the entrance test, once selected, the fees had to be paid before the start of the course year. The mode of payment was cheque or bank draft to be submitted in the bank branch near to the university.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't think the course offered scholarship or education loan. We had internship and on campus placement.

Campus Life

In my course, girls were more than boys and from all races and places. We had two students from Buddhism as well. All I can say is our course group was close knit and we all became friends very quickly.we still are bonded together by our passion for travel and come to each others aid when needed. The course heavily emphasised on boxing well through many field outings, group projects and workshops which needed team effort and management.

Alumni/Alumna

Our seniors were very supportive. In fact, they were really helpful in guiding us and be there for us during our internship days.

Admission

I had opted to take travel for my major studies, cause I am passionate about different places and travel really intrigued me. After few days of research, I came across this post graduation course in Mumbai University and came to know that it was the best choice to venture into tourism. Also, being affiliated with MU was an added vantage. All I did was fill up the admission form and submitted it in college office and waited for the list of students selected. Thankfully, I was selected in the first cut off list itself. Then there was a test and interview to narrow down the candidates and around 60 students were selected . At that time, there was only one batch of students selected. Since it was long back, I don't remember dates, but it was in June that I had submitted my application form. Once I was selected, I had to provide my graduation result original with an attested photocopy, few passport size photographs and fees for the term. That was all I guess.

Faculty

4

All the subjects were centered on how travel and tourism functioned in India and international level. We had 6 lecturers all ages between 27-40. Our faculty were trained profeesionals who had their share of experience in the tourism world. The classes were fun along with intensive coaching on subjects that are relevant in the travel field. The faculty took initiatives in grooming up for interviews and provided confidence by giving projects and presentations to work on.

Placement Experience:

During my time the first company that visited our organization was Naukri.com, and feel proud to say that i got placed in the same organization. I am very happy with my placement. But talking about my peers. Number of companies who visited to our institute was compared to low as per our expectations. Majority of the companies who visited the institute were sales based organizations. Very less companies for finance and HR field. This made a difficult call for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of the teachers who teach that. I had my siblings telling me that they love the way their teachers taught them. They make it so easy to understand and give you so much advice to grow and have great success. Also, this college is just a treasure of other curriculum activities. Once you got to know that they held those kinda functions over these years you can't resist and will participate in those functions. As it the course was difficult but teachers will make it easy they will guide you in any problem that you have and encourage you to learn more skills so you can be more successful.
