Shimee Aktar Laskar's Review On Silchar Polytechnic - [SILPO], Cachar

Well its the only Polytechnic in Silchar and its old as well as renowned for technical education. People from other districts of Assam comes here an join SILPO, the college environment is quite friendly so,the teachers as well. They constantly keeps providing adequate guidance and knowledge. In SILPO we have four branches of engineering course i.e.Cilvil,Mechanical,Electrical,Electronics and Telecommunications. One can choose according to their interests.

I was in Electronics and telecommunications branch the faculty members from our department were very friendly and kind nature. Our HOD Sir was experienced in teachings skills and basically he used to make us understand about the theory portion of electronics indeed he was one of the most amazing teacher so far. Along with theory there were practical classes aslo. But speaking frankly the equipments we used for our practicals were quite old and sometimes won't function properly. Overall everything is good since we have teachers for covering both theory and practicals.

There is on campus placements processes but the companies which comes for hiring are not good and the packages are aslo quite low due to which most students don't find the urge to take the job.

We have college feast for around one week where we can represent our hobbies apart from studies we can participate in sports,music,dance,debates,quizzes,seminars etc. in front of the entire college and guests.Our department faculties were quite active in the extracurricular activities like asking for projects submission taking seminar,sudden visit to industries, other colleges tour.

Campus infrastructure is not up to the mark.It needs to be renovated and proper maintenance management is aslo required in SILPO. We have only one library which is not huge its quite small and there are many restrictions as well. We have laboratories practical classes but the equipment are quite old and needs to be replaced with new once. The infrastructure needs to be taken care of by the respective college authorities.
