Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is same as any other medical college. They have a lot of innovative styles of teaching like integrated teaching, team based learning, self directed learning etc. Importance is given to student seminars for which there is internal assessment. Research opportunities are very high and most of the students get ICMR STS projects. There are student clubs like the Student Research Forum, Scientist Medicine, Cutting edge the surgical society, Bioethics student wing etc.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is compulsory for every MBBS student and like other colleges, even KMC Manipal allows their students to complete their internship in the same hospital. The stipend currently is about 25000 per month.

Placement Experience

5

Placements right after completing MBBS is difficult as specialties and super specialties are preferred in Kasturba Hospital Manipal. So working at a basic level that is, as a senior resident to gain experience can be done for better placements within the campus.

College Events

5

UTSAV the intercollegiate cultural festival of Manipal. It is a 5 day fest filled with cultural events like Western and eastern dance, singing, band, fashion show etc, literary events like quizzes, debates, collage, essays, photography and many more. About 30 to 40 events are held with inviting cash prizes. The main highlight of the event is the concert on the last day along with the DJ night. VERVE- This is an inter batch fest which runs for about 3 days where students from every semester unite and compete with other semesters because only ONE SEM RULES THEM ALL. Again there are literary events, cultural events and sports too. additionally casual events like paintball, limbo and other games also come and there are a lot of foods stalls too. MIST is the Manipal intermedic sports fest where students from all over the country participate in almost all possible sports events including cricket, squash, football, basketball, tennis, table tennis, badminton etc. VIBES this is the exclusive literary fest of the college which is celebrated for around 3 days. Highlights include comedy shows every year. Kannan gill, Biswa Mohan, Aditi, Sorabh pant, we have them all.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a private institution, the fee is comparatively on the higher side. For 2014 batch the course fee was around 36 Lacs amounting to 7.6lacs per annum. But now the fee is floating fees according to which they can hike the fee every year. Hostel and mess adds another 1Lac per annum. But then it's all worth it. We have South East Asia's largest medical library- the health sciences library manipal. We have one of the largest indoor sports centre of theworld- Marena which has about 200 treadmills and everything that is required. indoor squash, tt, basketball, name it we have it.

Fees and Financial Aid

Merit come means scholarships for students within 500 rank. Fees is based on parents annual income. Free-ship for students within 100 rank. Konkani scholarship for students with Konkani mother tongue 10 thousand annually. SAGES -scholarship for academy general education students. Student loans are provided by state bank of India in collaboration with the college itself with very less student subsidy.

Hostel Facilities

4

"Hostels are pretty decent for the money we pay. There are different kinds of hostel based on the students needs. Indira Girls hostel single room costs about 56000 per annum. Double room would be less around 52000 per annum. These come with attached bathrooms. There are absolutely no common baths or dorms. AC rooms are a bit on the higher side cost about 1lac or more. Chandrashekhar girls hostel is more expensive and luxurious with special beds and deluxe rooms. In addition to all this separate mess fees needs to be paid which is another 50k a year. There are sufficient hostel rooms for everyone. There is no need to join any PG. Average rentals in that case would be 6 to 8 thousand a month.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are the most helpful people when it comes to anything. Be it exams, places to go, books to refer, or even friends to make. They add to the good experiences in Manipal.

Exam Structure

Life is all fun in Manipal with the clubs and pubs and everything but when it comes to the University exams, I must say it's no cake walk. It gets as strict as it can ever be and very frustrating but then the college prepares you for this through out the year so that isn't a problem. Labs- we have Asia's largest museum MAP - Manipal anatomy and pathology museum which is our lab. Over 50000 people come to visit this museum from all parts of the country. The labs are very sophisticated, equipped with AC and everything.

Faculty

4

Most of the faculty are highly qualified doctors with multiple research papers and PhD. They have good teaching experience and are student friendly. There are cameras in classes to make sure that the faculty is teaching well and also so that students missing the class can access the class video later on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very comprehensive and relevant for exams but not for real world applications. I feel let the parts of body I was specially fascinating so I like anatomy very much and we also got a very good teacher, the curriculum is very good for examinations however the real wall applications of this curriculum is very little, they should be more real life applications and whatever the latest technology than studies are happening the student should get the latest info about them, timing between two exams in an internal semester should be a little more such as a day or two because we do not get time to prepare the subjects curriculum very well for the examination.
