Remarks

Farook College, long considered as the Aligarh of the South, lives up to the lofty expectations placed on its shoulders. The campus is huge and feels well lived in with a bustling campus life that does not make you feel alien. The teachers are very accepting and have walked us through the trials and tribulations of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The admission process is comparatively easy or was easy for me as I got my seat through the Management quota. To apply for the college, you only have to go to the college site, which is very user friendly by the way, and fill out the admission form and make the necessary payments. I live in Kozhikode and hence I decided to study in the Best college in the city had to offer as I was wary of going outside the state to study and so far, I have no reason to regret my decision. I used Collegedunia.com to help me with my decision to enrol in college. The lack of solid reviews for this college initially hinder me, but those apprehensions were illfounded.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose Economics as I'm deeply interested in the subject, the hypothetical aspects of it as well as how it ties to our everyday life. The faculty: student ratio I have found no qualms about as of yet although It is far too early for me to judge as I haven't been a student of the college for long. The teachers are very understanding of the current plight of the students and the effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic on us. The qualifications of the Teachers here are simply mindblowing. I've never in all my years of education, come across a more competent batch of teachers. Most of them hold PhD's in the subjects they are teaching and their knowledge goes far beyond their particular textbooks. Every student should hope to learn at least half of what they are trying to inculcate on us as they are very valuable tools for our life. The College is autonomous and does not have to answer to a superior university to conduct it's exams or choose it's syllabus. This is the colleges biggest strength.

Placement Experience

4.5

Campus placements become available after the 4th semester, which is after the 2nd year of our 3 year course. The average package most companies that visit give 3 L.P.A-6 L.P.A. On rare occasions, higher packages are given to the best of students. Some companies conduct entrance exams after which the high scorers are given Jobs or Packages. I do not know the exact number of students getting placements but if I am to make an educated guess, it would be near the 50% area. I plan to either pursue a Master's in Economics or a Master's degree in Business Administration. I plan to take a second degree rather than go to work straightaway.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure can be considered as the most affordable and when considering the amenities and features and other innovations the college provides, the fees can be considered as a bargain for what we are getting. The fee has never been hiked since I've joined the college and I doubt it will ever be in the near future although the economic fallout due to the pandemic most probably might have hurt the college's finances. I cannot comment on the Scholarship and Campus placement because I'm not applicable for it.

Campus Life

4

Farook College has a bustling campus life and is always so lively that you never feel alienated even as a freshman. The College has a very accepting feel to it and we never have to feel ashamed of who we are, regardless of coming from different parts and having different backgrounds. The Library of Farook College is a full-fledged haven of Knowledge and you can find everything there from the most common novels to the most obscure books on Genetics. This widespread wisdom available inside 4 walls makes the college superior to most others. The classroom is equipped with a Digital screen along with the corresponding software. The sports in the College is, in particular, a draw for new students who are interested in sports as they allow the freedom to pursue it and give us training to make us better.

Placement Experience:

There are placements in St thomas, with a placement cell but I have to say it beyond terrible. Especially students from criminology and forensics have zero opportunities in their field. They barely help with higher education or career counseling. It was quite frustrating as they had a negative approach itself to our batch
