Entrance Preview

Estd in 1998, this college has grown to be a fine(not great) college when I had selected it based on my CET rank. I took up CSE since I wanted to be a Software Engineer and this has been the best dept of the college for a very long time. Centrally located within touching distance from the heart of the city it was an obvious choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

It was fine since our college follows VTU syllabus and curriculum.CSE is the best department in terms of faculty where there are many good teachers whereas Mechanical has lots of freshers who are not as good as the senior staff. Many teachers lack fluency in English language and they need to resort to Kannada or Hindi to explain properly. Students feel that some teachers, although knowledgeable, are boring and need to improve their teaching methodology. Overall majority teachers are experienced.

Internships Opportunities

Till the time I was in the college, never heard of internships being offered and even if the students got internship offers from outside the college used to deny the students from participating in the same. Hence, there was no stipend or any such thing being offered to the students at the college.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements for Oxford College can said to be as average but theyメre improving each year. Major companies that come here for recruitment are Accenture, Infosys, TCS & Capgemini. Average salary offered is 3.5 LPA. Sadly no core companies come for branches other than CS & IS.

College Events

3

The annual cultural festival of TOCE is held May. It is called モJalsaヤ but the name is likely to change every year. Sports event is held in St Johns ground with a variety of activities taking place at the ground. Other activities take place in the college campus where quite a lot of students participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is fine as far as one is concerned. For the CET students i guess it is currently 40000 or something. While for the Management students this varies from department to department where the best of the lot is the Computer Science department.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have no idea, but I dont think that any kind of assistance is made by the college and all the scholarships are undertaken by unknown people from different NGO or by the government. If deserving students received the same it wouldnt be such a bad idea.

Campus Life

3.5

The crowd here is a good mix of locals & hostelites. Overall girls & boys are almost equal in numbers but IS & Biotech branches have few boys compared to girls. Students are quite mixing and friendly but most of them seem to be interested only in studies & lack enthusiasm to participate in extracurricular activities. And the extracurricular activities were just fine not that good or not that bad seeing that the students enjoyed doing it.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel was good when you compare with other college pan India but the worst part was the food for which we had to pay since it was mandatory if living in the hostel. Facility was good and even the security but the food was almost successful in ruining our experience until we started cooking in our rooms.

Alumni/Alumna

No network of sorts, With so much social media and all surrounding us college network barely helps in keeping touch with our college mates. Once in a year Alumni meet takes place, it didnt even take place for us and we are still waiting for it since we paid RS500 for the same.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is decided by the VTU itself. There are 3 written internals for each subject in a semester out of which the best 2 is taken which is then followed by an external for 100 marks at university level. A lab internal followed by an external takes place again taken at university level.

Placement Experience:

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
