Remarks
Seth GSMC has the highest patient load of all the hospitals in Maharashtra and the teaching is directed towards building your practical skills. Graduates from this institution have better post graduation prospects and can easily land a job. Plus it has adequate food options, well maintained hostels.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum needs to be updated by MUHS. They still have chapters about instruments/modalities which are not in use and don't provide much use to the patients. Our clinical exposure is amongst the best in Maharashtra. And our teacher to student ratio is good (1:40). Plus for every 4 students, there is a faculty mentor which help us out for our personal issues and general guidance. Seth GSMC's Anatomy dept deserves special praise for their consistent efforts in betterment of education and using both online/offline method of teaching well.
Placement Experience
Most of the KEM Alumnus have worked in top hospitals all over the world. One of our alumnus,Dr. Anuja Dalvi was the Head Physio for Bangladesh Cricket team and also the Chief Medical Officer of the Pro Kabaddi League (2016-2017). The college itself doesn't offer placements but the alumnus network comes in handy for landing lucrative internships or jobs.
College Events
Every year, the college hosts a 4 day Medical fest named AAVISHKAAR, it consists of multiple cultural competitions such as Solo and Group Dance, Solo Singing, Fashion shows and participants from both Medical and non medical colleges show up. On top of that, we do get sponsorships from big brands such as Snapchat. Colleges from all over Maharashtra participate in this fun 4 day gala.
Campus Life
Our college has its own stadium where our cricket and athletics team practice on a daily basis. We have tennis, indoor badminton, table tennis and basketball courts. Recently, the college has introduced a turf ground for Football club which can also be used a Volleyball court. Cultural activites are equally promoted by seniors and Gymkhana. We have a complete Air conditioned library and have subscriptions of all the top international medical journals. The labs are well maintained and equipment is generally shared among students.
Hostel Facilities
It is pretty easy to avail the hostel facilities provided you are not from Mumbai, the fees are 6000-8000 per year. The rooms are shared among 4 students with each having their own bed and a table. No closet or shelves are provided for the first two years.
