Remarks

Ravenshaw University is one of the oldest and highly reputed universities in Odisha. The astounding red empire's history grabs everyone's attention and all the meritorious students literally dream of getting into the university. And so did I. My sisters were a part of the university and their experience inspired me to get admitted here. The things I like the most about my University are its faculties, the idea of letting the student live and the numerous cultural activities that take place every now and then. 80% of the faculties are extremely well behaved, maintained and supremely amiable. The university lets the students have fun amidst all the studies and one of the rare things that I have sensed here is freedom; freedom of speech. freedom of choice and freedom of mostly every thing. Ravenshaw is well known for all its cultural and social programmes that includes dance, plays, music and sports as well. Literature has always been my favourite subject. The enthusiasm that I have for English generically makes it way more special when I get to study about it. Having amazing novels and poems in our syllabus improves my innate love for content and this is the very reason why I chose English as my majors.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our course syllabus consists of classics, mostly. Undoubtedly, the teachers do use effective and updated ways of imparting the materials during the lecture. In our department, Urmishree Ma'am is the one who is an amazing and a very understanding teacher. She not only focuses on the course study but also helps the students in every scenario when comes to the student's well being by encouraging everyone to take part in various things that the university keeps on arranging.

Placement Experience

4

I am not really sure if companies visit to the department of English with campus or placements opportunities. But if the student remains in the good will of the teachers and performs well in the semesters, they help in getting in touch with a few internships that helps in shaping the student's career.

Like I have already mentioned, I have always felt of a sense of freedom in the campus. It might give you quite a few anxiety attacks if you are an introvert because a lot of students here can be intimidating as well but once you make yourself comfortable with your own found gems, you will never look back. It will take some time to adjust here but every thing will be worth it in the end. I have only been a part of the department's freshers and farewell functions which are not huge but are always well carried out and honestly, the entire department treats you like family. One thing for sure, Ravenshaw, however intimidating it can be, still proves that family is not always blood.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs

Course Curriculum Overview:

The pedagogy is excellent since majorly learning is through real-world case studies, reserach papers, peer discussions and interactive class activities. The professors provide materials and pre-reads at the starting of the term and the content is highly focussed on practical learning. The AI sessions are enriching. The difficulty level of exams vary among the instructors but usually is aligned with topics already taught.
