Remarks

Overall PSG is a good place to have a good eductaion and get placed in good companies. The college is strict when it comes to discipline. They do give the degree of freedom required for every student but at the same time don't allow it to be over taken. Overall it is a safe and good place to leave the kids for education.

Entrance Preview

PSG conducts a separate set of interview to get into MSc. Software Engineering 5 year integrated course. First of all your cutoff (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) but be above 85% to apply for this course. Separate application form will be available from May for this course in the college website and in the college help desk. You can attach the required documents along with the form and send it. Once you are selected you will be called for an interview. In the interview, they will ask you questions (apptitude, personality test). Depending on how you perform you will either be selected, wait list, rejected. I had 97% cut off and I was selected on the spot in the interview. I opted for this course because it gives PG degree in 5 years, it has a unique internship programme for one year where you get exposure working in MNC. And above all PSG tech has 100% placement guarantee.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Since this course is autonomous they keep changing the syllabus every 2 years as per company standards. All the subjects and labs are based towards getting the students placed in top companies. Most of the faculties who handle this course are PHD scholars (either completed or pursuing).

Internships Opportunities

MSc. Software engineering offers 1 year internship (7th semester and 10th semester) where students go and either work for top IT companies or do research work in IIT. Its a students choice to choose what he wants to do. The general stipend offered when I studied was 15k - 30K. Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Ebay, Thoughworks, SuccessFactors, Intel, Accenture, Qualcomm, Microsoft come for internship hiring.

Placement Experience

5

In PSG all the students get placed (100% placement for my course). Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Ebay, Thoughworks, SuccessFactors, Intel, Accenture, Qualcomm, Microsoft, EMC2, Thorogood, Deshaw, Paypal, Payoda, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, CTS, Google, Yahoo etc. came for hiring. Offer was in the range of 6L-21L per annum. The average salary was 10L in many companies. Google offered the highest 21L and TCS/CTS offered the least 3L per annum.

College Events

3

There are many tech events organised by our college . Inter and Intra college events that we had are YLG, Kriya, Intrams are common events, Login was my department event and every department had their own events. PSG concentrates more on technical events. Students from all over India participate in these events. Most of these events will be there for 2 days.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since my course is autonomous it is slightly expensive then the government courses offered there. I paid 25k - 30K per semester as college feses which includes exam fees, tution fees, infrascture, lab maintenance etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarship/loan offered by the college, If you take a loan outside then you can get the required signatures dfrom the college authority. Other than that they dont provide any.

Campus Life

4.5

PSG is all about studying and getting placed. There are lot of extracurricular activities too but the college mainly focuses on studies only. labs are good in my college they provide facilities that would aid a student in learning about industry used technologies. PSG alsohas basketball, cricket and karate, Table Tennis, Chess, NCC, NSS, English, Enterpreneur clubs. There are various competitions conducted in these clubs every now and then.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities are average in PSG Tech. We have 7 blocks in total (A, E, M, N, L, K, Guest House). L block is a 6/8 per room block, N is 4 per room block, M & E are two per room block whereas K & Guest House are 2 per room luxury blocks. The cost varies according to the blocks from 12k - 32K depending on the block you choose. The mess food is average and again you have options North and South Indian mess. Only on sundays they provide non veg (chicken). You have to get token separately for that. Eggs are given wednesday and saturday and again separate token for that.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni and seniors play an important part in placements. Senior conduct mock interviews and train us for the interview. In case any student is not been able to get placed they are absorbed into the companies started by our alumnis.

Exam Structure

We have exams every month leaving us busy all the time. In a six month semester we have 3 internal tests , 3 lab tests , 1 main exam, 1 main lab, 1 project work, 2 assignment presentations, 3 class tests (considered for internal marks). Apart from this we have marks for attendance as well.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties are highly qualified than most of the other colleges.

From the last previous semester, students can avail themselves of campus interviews. Students who have Harriers are not given opportunities because it's in the companies criteria. Cognizant, Zoho, Infosys, Wipro. Every year at least 10 students get selected. Average is 10,000-15,000 per month 10-15% of students getting placed. I plan to study for competitive exams like UPSC.
