Remarks

At the time of my admission, UGC had still not enforced the semester norms across India and a vast majority of the universities offering MA programs still enforced the yearly exam format. This obviously was one of the key reasons for joining the University of Delhi. Apart from that, the University also offered scope for a lot of diverse academic undertakings including better exposure and a chance to attend IDC classes which really helped get a holistic undertaking that the pedagogic system sought to provide.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course syllabus was quite updated in their ability to include other departments as a part of the semester coursework, something that a vast majority of the universities in India are still debating on rather than implementing. While there was a lot left to be desired in terms of industrial exposure, for those who wanted to get into academics, the nature of applied coursework emphasised by the university was quite enough to undertakefurther studies into research. When it comes to the faculties, as is the case with any other college/ university in the world, the department consists of great teachers, good teachers and bad teachers. Having said that as a matter of professional courtesy I would refrain from taking any specific names on that front.

Internships Opportunities

TestbookSubject Matter Expert (Intern)Rs 12,000 per monthThe process to get in was to contact the company directly

Placement Experience

0.5

There was no effort made by the placement department to provide any for our batch. As far as I know, there was none for our senior or junior batches either. The department simply does not concern itself withe employment as we know it.

College Events

4

The University holds quite a number of events throughout the year. however, since I was into academics chiefly my participation was restricted to seminars held by the department and other universities. On that front, funding especially at the PG level tends to be a problem as the department does not have any provision for funding for research at the PG level.

Campus Life

3

The Delhi University has a lot going for it when it comes to campus infrastructure. However, there is the dire need for constant supervision and upgradation of these facilities. The library for instance is extremely well stocked but sadly mismanaged.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I opted to stay in a PG on a double sharing basis the room was completely furnished along with WiFi and cost Rs 5500 per head. Partly the reason for opting for a PG instead of a hostel is because the University does not have adequate hostel facilities for all its students. and the procedure to apply into a hostel is long and extremely convoluted.
