Remarks

The college management is very supportive in nature starting from the Administrative Department. The Teachers are really good and so is the principal of the college. There's an environment of learning. But I feel students should attend the college more regularly so that college can arrange more activities and guest lectures for the students. To end it, Garware is a beautiful college with great calibre teachers who have a lot of industry experience in their subject.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course i.e Bcom comes under Pune University and the college strictly follows all the guidelines provided by the University. To be honest the course is a bit theoretical in nature but the teachers are very good. Various Post's which had to be given during our third year really boosted our confidence which we could carry during our interviews. Also college had organised Job fair where top recruiters like WNS Multinationals was also the part of the fair.

Placement Experience

1

WNS Multinationals, SKP, HDFC Bank and some other companies took part in the placement drive. To be very honest WNS Multinationals was the company whose placement offers could be relied on. The rest of them were not very great. The college did have placement cell and Entrepreneurship cell, but the number of students getting placement from campus was relatively on a lower side. Also this college has a lot of CA students crowd, so number of students appearing for campus placement is very low. The procedure for taking part in placement drive is students have to pay Rs. 100 and get themselves registered on the registration counter and after that then can apply to 'n' number of companies in the placement drive provided they have that many resumes with them.

College Events

2.5

There are many cultural programmes like Cultural Day, Tie Day, Saree Day and many such other programmes. Entrepreneurship Cell is the most active cell in the college. They conduct many businesses fair wherein students get to showcase their talents. There is a club name start-up club which used to motivate students to come up with their idea of startup and this club used to help them solve their problems. Student participation is on a lower side like around 30-40 people actively participate in the club.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for BCOM is Rs 8750. The fee changes according to the specialisation opted by the student. Students opting taxation had to pay more fees. The college does give the break down of the fee like this much is for gymkhana fee this much is for library fee. Mode of payment accepted by the college is ONLY CASH. No additional fee has to be paid to secure the admission.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college did have some scholarship for the students. But unfortunately I was not eligible for the same and I don't have any detailed information for the same.

Campus Life

Gender Ratio is around 60:40( Boys: Girls). The only parties done by the students is the send off party. Other than that students are not very active in partying. Most of the times the attendance is very low in the college as many of the students in the course are doing CA side by side. So there's hardly any participation from these people which leaves us to the rest of the students who are not doing CA. The number of these students is hardly 10-15% of the population of the course. So due to less number of NON CA students the students don't get enough motivation to participate in any kind of activity. The crowd in the college is mostly Maharashtrian but there is no sort of discrimination done by the students/Teachers/The Staff of the college.

Hostel Facilities

No. I didn't opt for the hostel but my friend did. I used to stay at my cousin's place so I have very limited idea about it. Hostel rooms are quite small though and they are twin sharing rooms with study table and cupboard for each student. Overall it's a pretty Average Hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

Generally students opting for the hostel facilities get to interact with the seniors. Rest of the students don't get to interact with seniors as hardly any of them come to the college. There were very less seniors who would attend the college but they had nothing to do with us and we had nothing do with them but they did help us whenever we wanted the help.

Admission

After 12th standard I applied the college and my name was displayed on the merit list and I took the admission because the college was very well known for Commerce. One can get the admission by merit or the further lists that the college displays. I had scored 83.54% in 12th std and my name was the last second in the merit list, which means the cut off for merit list was 83.54%

Faculty

5

The faculty of the college is a combination of very experienced teachers and some young professor's which is a very good combination. Daily we had to attend 6 lectures where one lecture was of 45 mins approximately. The lecturers were very well trained and some of them were CA's. Some of them were Entrepreneurs and the special subject of Business Entrepreneurship was taught by them in a very practical manner. We had our environmental visit to Kamala Nehru Park which is very close to our college which is in Pune. Overall the teaching staff is very good and they help the students in each possible manner.

Placement Experience:

Placements start from final year. Students become eligible in 7th sem. Training sessions begin earlier. Aptitude and coding practice provided. Mock interviews are also conducted. Preparation quality depends on effort. Many service based firms visit. Some product companies also come. Roles include developer and analyst. Support and testing roles common. Core jobs limited for some branches. Multiple offers for top performers. Average package is moderate level. Top packages go to few students. Around half students get placed. Others find off campus jobs. Internships improve placement chances. My plan is skill based job.
