Life in SRM

SRM management and Department of chemistry was so good and helpful to achieve my degree. Everything like infrastructure, teaching,extra curricular activites sports etc are good in SRM. More than that SRM has NiRF ranking No. 6 in all over India.and also has accreditation A++.

MSc chemistry course curriculum is moreover similar to IIT Madras curriculum.We will have 3 internal exams and one University exam.Internal exams have 2 cycle test which constitutes 10 internal marks each and model exam carries 20 internal marks.Then 5 marks for assignments and 5 marks for attendance of particular subjects. We will have major courses and non major elective courses. Also seminar class will be held in 2nd,3rd & 4th semestere. In first year of the course itself we will finish our laboratory exams (physical,organic & inorganic)In second year, fully the project work simultaneously will have some courses.We will have assigned to individual professors in our department for our MSc project.

Our college have separate database for conducting placements.many companies will aproach through it by our placement officer in final semester of the course.Companies like saint gobain,TCS,Zifo RnD,malladi pharmaceutical,chennai public school, Akash institute etc will come for placementsMostly 80 percentage of the students will be place every year in our campus.The college management itself will held a 1 week special placement training programs for us which constitutes aptitude,reasoning, soft skill class etc.

Technical fest such as AARUSH will be held every year in odd semester. And MILAN is a cultural fest that happens in even semester in month of March every year for 4 days. In both Aarush and Milan students from other colleges can also participate. But for participating they have to get pass which cost 500 Rs each. Other than that diwali,pongal, onam,national science day etc will be celebrated.

For my course, fee payment is Rs 30000 per year. In first year you have to pay 5000 extra as a registration fee.additionally we have to pay for exam fees and conference registration fees if any was held. Made of payment accepted by our college is Demand draft, Debit card or credit card and NetBanking.

No, I didn't applied for any scholarships or education loan. There is no schlorships for PG students particularly for my course.

SRM united organization, students council,tamil club etc are there.SRM is famous for the proverb unity in diversity because students from different part of country are studying here like Tamilnadu,Mumbai,delhi,UP, Andhra, kerala etc. Gender ratios are equal in terms of both men and women! Foreigners from Afghanistan,Syria,nigeria etc are also studying here.

Yes I have opted for college hostel.My hostel name is Pierre Fauchard hostelThe pg students will be allocated only to this hostel.the hostel fees is Rs 1 lakh and 7 thousand including food and laundry. Weekly one time laundry service is there for students. Hostel rooms are very good and ventilated properly.you will be provided will 1 cart,1 table & chair and a cupboard for each. My hostel is a 3 sharing room. 3 members will be in the room. The hostel mess was so big.they will provide both north indian and south indian foods separaty for North & south indian students.

Yes, the alumni students will help us in our placements,projects etc.SRM will conduct alumni meet every semester in which present students can also participate. Some of the reputed alumni who are placed in big companies etc will deliver us a good speech and motivate us.

In first I had applied to MSc Chemistry course via online application in SRM official website in month of April. Then they called me admission process in may last week. I did my UG in chemistry so I chose PG chemistry course here. I chose SRM Institute because of the good infrastructure, student friendly environment, good lab facilities etc. In admission process, three steps are there. First- eligibility check & giving admission based on marksSecond- submitting marksheets and other certificatesThen after 10 days you will receive your ID card.

Most of our faculty are research professors so they will teach us in both theoretical and practical point of view.There average age is around 37. All of them are completed their post doc in reputed universities in foreign countries. Also they all completed csir ane gate with national ranking. They are mostly student friendly and they will give their mobile numbers to students for clarifying our doubts etc. some of our teachers were also worked in some industries so they will tell us about the industry atmosphere and their experiences.
