- The building is new, so the infrastructure is great, classrooms are fully equipped
Dislikes
- Placement cell is not very active and internship opportunities are not really provided from the side of the college
- Rigid attendance system , need to maintain atleast 75% percent attendance. They do not easily provide On Duty attendance for going for internships
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is well structured and comprehensive integrating the subjects of arts as well as law. The first 2 years focus more upon the arts subject and thereafter focuses on legal subjects . Covers all the important laws pertaining to taxation, contracts, torts, labour law, environmental law, Interpretation of statutues, election laws, cyber law , etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fees is 2,00,000 per year There is concession for students who come from the constituency of our college chancellor (50 waiver on college as well as hostel fees) Newly introduced scholarship for female students as well (not applicable during my enrollment)
Campus Life
Campus life is very happening, many many extracurricular activities keep going on throughout the year organised by all the various departments of srm allowing participation amongst sll departments. Sports day, fests , sports day. Milan cultural festival is one of the most sought after events usually happening around mid to late feb. Onam is celebrated annually in different departments, holi also. Many university clubs are also run where all students are free to join. Each clasroom is well equipped with projector, speakers, AC's , green boards. The university has one main central library having a huge collection of books. The law block also has a library on the 3rd floor having a good collection of law books and journals.
Admission
I also applied to saveetha law school chennai through their website but could not get a seat there.There was no communication from their end. Srm has been a very reputed institution since long, so wanted to persue my degree from here. The admission process involves filling an admission form , givinh the online entrance exam and then submitting all your documents and paying fees
Faculty
Faculties are very friendly and approachable. They are always there to support and help the students. The faculties mostly get rotated as per semester and the subjects . There are a total of 6 subjects per semester. We have 3 exams per semester (2 internal +1 semester final examinations) .. first 3 years we have written exams for 6 subjects .. the last 2 years written exam for 5 subjects
Night Life
The locality, Potheri is on the outskirts of chennai (far from main city) , however has a very happening night life. There are ennumerous eateries available nearby having a wide variety of option ranging from momos, south indian food, north indian, malayali, bengali and rajasthani to punjabi food at affordable prices. Girls hostel in timing is 7pm ( very very strict and difficult to get permission for going out on weekends) Boys hotel in timing 9 pm
