Remarks

The college management is usually helpful but the hostel management is very rude and harsh towards the students be it a girl or a boy. They do not pay heeds to the complaints regarding to the food, safety of students, cleanliness etc. Here again the north indian and south indian students are discriminated based on they way they dress and everything.

Course Curriculum Overview

The first year really felt irrelevant at first as we had no knowledge about the recruitment, but as the recruitment started some of it was relevant as most of the companies asked coding and also it gave us a chance to determine our aspect of knowledge and interests in various fields. The project and research is quite competitive and good as a lot of faculties and students are into research and also gives a lot of opportunities for the extra curricular activities. The exams are sometimes quite easy and repeated but they change the pattern all of a sudden.

College Events

4.5

AARUUSH - It is a national level techno management fest based of SRMIST.It is a four day fest which are preceded by the roadshows containing a lot of technical and nontechnical fun games based on a theme of every year. It has all the various technical teams based on each department such aas KONSTRUKTION based on civil engineering aspect, CSA handles all the above authorities as well as the guest etc. with a participation of about more than 2000 students from various colleges of the country.MILAN - It is the national cultural fest of SRMIST which a huge participation of around 3000-4000 students from various colleges. It is preceded by various cultural festivities from various states such as lohri, garba nights, ganesh chaturthi, saraswati pooja etc. It is a 4-5 day event with the college totally looking like some kind of fair of festival going on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is somewhat expensive but the mode of payment is totally feasible. all the students have their own id and password for the payment of fees and if some problems arrives due to some problem in online mode of payment, the payment can be done using offline mode using a DD.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers the top ranks students in the SRM JEE for a scholarship. The eligibility criteria for the scholarship is to obtain the top 10 ranks in the department and according to the ranks the scholarship of 50 percent 25 percent and etc is provided.

Campus Life

The campus is very cheerful, green and huge. The gender ratio is lesser in the core branches such as civil, mechanical, electrical etc. But the other branches have a high ratio of girls to boys. The students are from various part of the country as well from outside the country. We also are given opportunities to opt for different college as a part of student exchange program. There are a lot of opportunities for the workshops and cultural activities. There is no gender discrimination among the students. But sometimes language becomes a problem and the students with the knowledge of tamil are preferred more over hindi speaking students in most of the cultural and technical aspect.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is quite helpful even outside the campus. The better the alumni connection the better the knowledge of the industry world and the further studies. Most of the alumni are helpful and would provide with their share of experiences and than would also provide advice for the kind of work to be done.

Admission

The first procedure to admission was an entrance exam known as the SRM JEE, based on which the ranks of each and every student is decided. Since I had the best ranks in the SRM JEE as compared to all the other competitive exams i choose SRM. I choose Civil Engineering As my bachelor degree as I already had some knowledge about engineering graphics which is an important aspect in civil engineering and obviously i was interested in it.

Faculty

4

The number of lecturers in our course were 95 including the research faculties. The average age is around 40-45 as half of the faculties are new to teaching and most of them have industrial as well as technical knowledge of the industry. The faculties are usually knowledgeable in the field of providing clarity about most of the subjects and have fair knowledge of most of the major subjects they teach.

Placement Experience:

For campus placements students of the 4th year or 7th semester are the eligible ones. Multiple companies like zoho, apple,TCS,CTS, accenture etc have come and multiple small companies too. But the intake for the big and reknown MNCs were low from abt 2-3 candidates only.the placement here is 100% but the companies may vary.My future goal is to go for a government official stream after I finish my masters abroad.

From 3rd year itself a student become eligible for campus placements and some of seniors got ino flipkart like companies. So the college is good at placement. In any colleges, due to college the student can't only be placed, their skills, talents, communication is more important to get placed so based their knowledge the students get placed. only thing college need to do is getting good companies with package and our college also provide it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

me being a law student expected a lot of practical and theoretical examples to be presented in front of the students when I first joined in, but the reality was far less than what I expected. The professor is mostly came in read. Whatever the book said and left, gave us few assignments and group projects to be completed without any particular information from their side. We had to sit and do research on our own without any input, and then we'll go summit down the assignments or projects or whatever task was appointed to us, and then we'll have a viva through our work and that's pretty much it . The new professors who joined in by our third year, were very practical, made us understand a lot of things which the previous professor didn't. They answered a questions. They were more relevant to us because they could understand that some topics were forced on us and supposed to be taught, maybe twice or thrice just to make us more comfortable or just to make us more smarter in that area by understanding it in depth . law is one of the most interesting and difficult courses out there, but then if you have the right professor is leading you to it, you would learn easily and more efficiently. in my area of study, practical work was not very much included other than participating in mood court. It was all theory based which is not very important in a way because when you finish your course and get into the real world when you go to your corporate world or litigation side, you need practical experience and you need to understand how to do work and not just learn the sections or the theory part so something that they could have improved was rather than giving us assignments or group projects they could have made us understand and giving us real life situations or give given us more practical practice so that it would be easy for us to understand what litigation is and how we are supposed to do it.

The subjects in the MCA is very interesting but the students who studied UG course and then the pg course also in the same college then it is totally waste because they are studying the same subject again. Very bad thing is that in this college they are providing the same subjects and same syllabus for UG and PG students there is nothing different. But i have studies ug in other clg so for me it is different so i managed and it is interesting
