Remarks
Infrastructure is ok but overall a good college for that fees.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was decided by University of Mumbai and not by the individual college as it comes under that university. The curriculum in Mumbai university is revised after every 10 years which I thought that it needs to be updated. More subjects and different strategy needs to be applied like involvement of case studies and internships. We had industrial visits but internship would provide us more knowledge and experience. Also, many students joined were having their own business, so the placement committee were not so focused. I had to then pursue post graduation course to land a job.
Placement Experience
We didn?t had any internships included in our curriculum. Placement was not good as I said earlier that most of the students were already from big contracting companies. Only few students needed a job for which they applied on their own.
College Events
We had technical and cultural events held in our college. Not at a large scale but involved various competitions and quiz. Also we had sports festival which was very well arranged by students. Cultural festivals were fun and we participated. It included mostly dance, singing, rangoli and poster making competitions
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible. For 2006-2010, I have paid 88,000 for 4 years of engineering. Also, Mumbai best buses and local trains gives student discounts making travel cheaper. College do provide transparency in the fee breakdown. No additional charges were paid in order to secure an admission.
Fees and Financial Aid
College didn?t offer any scholarship opportunities. As the fees were very minimal compared to other private colleges which use to charge approx 40000 for a year.
Campus Life
Gender ratios were totally dependant on the stream chosen. Core fields like civil and mechanical had few girls and IT engineering had many girls. Overall ratio for a boy to girl will be 3:1. No one was biased with respect to gender, caste or religion. It is a Muslim minority college but students of all caste and religions were seen. Also staff and teachers are all mixed religions.
Hostel Facilities
No. As I was staying in Mumbai I didn?t needed any hostel. Also the college doesn?t provide any hostel facility. If any one needs one they have to find it on their own. Located in bandra, it was not easy for outside students to get rooms nearby as the rentals are very costly. Students have to opt private hostels.
Alumni/Alumna
As such we didn?t had any alumni network. It was all students initiatives to keep in contact with seniors and juniors.
Admission
I got into Rizvi college through Maharashtra CET CAP round. I chose Civil engineering as scope of jobs were huge. I choose Rizvi college as it was one of the best colleges for civil and mechanical engineering. Also at that time there were hardly 4-5 colleges in Mumbai in which this college was the second best after Sardar Patel college in Mumbai. Fees are quite lower and the infrastructure is ok but teaching faculty was very good.
Faculty
Few faculties were quite amazing and few were not bothered. Average age of faculty will be 35 years. Lecturers did hold industrial experience before teaching. Few teachers were experts and helped us in solving issues with the subjects. Also the curriculum was so loosely designed that it involved mostly lectures and practicals and not interactive sessions or group projects on a frequent basis.
