More than anything, this institute gives you the ability to think outside the box, and the confidence to apply those solutions to real life problems. I have finally found like-minded people and enjoy the daily intellectual banter and professional passion that we share.
Course Curriculum Overview
My focus is on host plant resistance against pests for different hybrid varieties of rice, and the PhD program is not restrictive at all. There are just a few seminars to attend and field visits as part of the program.
Placement Experience
Like other regular universities, don't expect a placement cell. The institute prepares you to deal with different projects and tackle problems thereon. And after joining PhD, we know that we are not going out of the academic field.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For PhD and research programs, you don't pay fee, you receive stipend, or fellowship, as it is officially called. JRFs receive a lower amount per month than SRFs, and the actual payment depends on the government's guidelines.
Campus Life
The laboratory is well-equipped with all the latest tests and appliances, and every division has different labs. There are libraries in every division, and guest house in the institute. We have to undertake field projects, and national and international seminars to keep abreast of the progress in our respective specializations.
Admission
The admission process is very straight forward. If you have qualified NET-JRF, you can apply for PhD in the specialization of your choice whenever there is an opening. You will then be called for an interview that will decide your selection.
Faculty
The faculty is approachable and passionate about their work. It may take a little while to become comfortable talking to them, but after that they are always there to support you with your research work with their experience and intellect.
