A best college for Geology in Goa

Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science is an autonomous institution. It is affiliated to the Goa University. It has received best affiliated college award. It has also been awarded with DBT Star college scheme.

The syllabus is framed under the CBCS pattern. So, we have 2 semesters per year. From the second year, we have elective courses for each semester. In the final year, we have a core project to be done. The topics like mineralogy, petrology, geotectonics, etc are studied in this course.

The college has a career and personal counselling centre. Their aim is to increase the potential of the students to acquire jobs and upgrade themselves in both personal and social life. They conduct personal grooming and personality enhancement course, career guidance camps & workshops, seminars and guest lectures.

The tuition fee has to be paid for each year of study. It costs around ?.19,000-20,000 for all the B.Sc., courses. Other than this, you have to pay the exam fees for each semester exam. The fees is bit costlier when compared with other colleges.

The college provides the following government scholarships : Post Matric Scholarship to SC/OBC students, The Bursary Scheme, Fee waiver for SC/ST students, Dayanand Bandodkar Scheme, Merit cum Means scholarship, Ganga Bharati Shiksha Yojana, Scheme for promotion of science education. The EDC cell promotes and supports all the creative and innovative works of the students and staffs. The inter departmental and inter collegiate competitions flood the campus throughout the year. Many departments of the college organizes various workshops. The Chowgule sports centre is spread over 5 acre land. It has both indoor and outdoor courts for various sports. It provides fitness equipments and changing rooms for boys and girls. The anti ragging committee ensures a ragging free campus.

The hostel accommodation is provided separately for both boys and girls. There are dormitory, twin sharing and single occupancy rooms, from which students can choose what they need. There is also an option for independent accommodation. The advance is ?.10,000/- and ?.5,000/- per month for bed sharing. The selection process is based on the merit score and the personal counselling session. The college follows reservation policy. While attending counselling, submit the self attested photo copies of the prescribed documents.

The department of geology was established in the year 1980. It is the one of two departments in the state of Goa to offer this course. The faculties of the department are well experienced and sets a benchmark in teaching geology. They organize various workshops and conferences for the external learning.
