B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from IHM Hajipur

Hotel Management is a career where one can get huge amount of salary after a little experience and one also has chances to go to a some other country after graduation for further experience. I choose it as my career so that I can improve my communication skills and management skills and also get a bright future. Our college has a beautiful campus, the surroundings are clean and gives a great exposure of the industry.

Hotel Management is a sector where we need to have much more practical experience than theoretical knowledge. And so does our college give us. There is more practical based learning than the theory. The best part of the curriculum is that industrial training of 17 week that is held in 2 semester. Overall the curriculum is good. The exam structure is also good. We even get chances to go to elite hotels for practice and networking.

We are often given training to enhance our soft skills, management abilities and cooking skills. Since, I'm in my 2nd year, I can only tell about the placement record of other batches. As a fresher, they got a salary between Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 27,000 per month in companies like Marriott, Hayat, Lalit, Leela, etc. Most students get a position of supervisor, deputy manager, outlet manager, waiters, CDP, etc. Overall, we get great placements.

At the beginning of each semester, we have to pay almost Rs. 50,000 and as the total length of the course is of 3 years the amount we pay is approx. Rs. 3,00,000. Earlier I used to think this as a very big amount of money, but now I realise that the quality of education and lifestyle we get here and after the degree is much high in terms of the price we pay.

As IHM is a management college, we always have enjoyment and parties. Except that, we get to celebrate all natonal holidays, fresher's party, fairwells and some times food festivals are arranged by the collage for our betterment as we get to know more people and also many recognised chef's and big stars. Periodic guest lectures and workshops are also organized by the college to give an edge to the students' careers. This facilitates us to enrich our knowledge and to update according to the current industry trends.

IHM Hajipur BSc admission is done on the basis of NCHMCT JEE. So, after my class 12, I sat for the JEE entrance exam and I was allotted the college on the basis of my All India Rank (AIR) in the entrance examination. The upper limit for admission to BSc is 22 years for General category students and for SC/ST students, the upper age limit is 25 years. Being 18 years, I was easily selected in the college.

The Faculty of our college are very experienced, decent and have a good teaching styles. Rather than acting as teachers they act as mentors. Most of them have worked in some of the best hotels, Marriott, TAJ, ITC, The Oberoi's, Hayat are a few to say. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students completely industry ready along with four months of industrial training.
