Course Curriculum Overview
This course is a 2 year program in which we cover all the major aspects related to technical machine work and designing. The course syllabus focuses on knitwear designer technology, apparel manufacturing and retail marketing and merchandising, garment construction on kid's wear, pattern making through draping, fashion communication etc. Alternatively, the students have to work so hard so that they satisfy both the materialistic needs and creative fancies of the people and to use their knowledge to the trends in the fashion industry in order to assist other people in the realm of fashion.
Placement Experience
The various job profiles for the students are freelance designer, carpet designer, textile designer, fashion consultant, project manager, assistant fashion merchandiser etc. The companies that visited our campus during my batch were Armani, Vera moda, Christian Dior, Pantaloons, Burberry etc. The average starting salary ranges from 5 to 8.5 LPA. Internship are also offered in areas such as garment stores, leather brands, textile companies, fashion stores and boutiques.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The first year fees is around 1,22,900 which includes the admission, exam fees and other charges such as mess charges, hostel rent and various study materials. Other charges include library fee, club membership fee, annual fest fee etc. The total fees for 2 years is around 5 LPA. Thus the fee structure is quite feasible for me as compared to the fees structure offered by the other big colleges in the same field.
Campus Life
Our college conducts many sports activities such as badminton, football, basketball, table tennis, kabbadi etc along with many inter colleges quizzes which are held twice in one year. Workshops on textile industry, ready made garments, leather shoes and jackets, hosiery, textiles etc are organised every week so that the workshops speaks volume about the innovative rich environment so that the students get knowledge of management practices and fashion designing.
Hostel Facilities
The college provides its own hostel facilities inside the college campus. Only the girl's college is available at NIIFT and is equipped with all the modern amenities such as hot water bath, 24/7 electricity, WiFi facility, laundry facilities and mess and canteen facilities. We also have a big library which consists a large array of journals, newspapers, books and published resources of foreign and Indian authors.
Admission
Apply for the admission online and fill in the necessary details. You need to have at least 50% marks in your relevant bachelor's course from a recognized Institute or University. An online entrance test named as CAT is to be cleared as its weight-age is around 80%. Then you will be called for the group discussion and interview round. A merit list will be prepared on the student's performance in the online exam and interview round. If lucky, you will be granted admission in the college.
Faculty
The teachers of our college are reputed for their knowledge in fashion designing and recommendations on outfits, individual pieces, style and fabrics etc. They impart us knowledge about garment store chains, jewelry houses, media houses, export houses and textile mills so that we develop a penchant for style and creativity and a carrier in fashion designing.
