The college provides students wide opportunities for them to seek a carrier in lifestyle and fashion sector. The teachers make us skilled in multitasking so that we work on several projects at one time and essentially be creative on demand within a definite period of time. We are responsible for conceptualization of the emerging fashion trends so that the consumers remained engaged. NIFT is pioneering institution which has always been the vanguard of providing professionalism in the apparel/fashion/textile industry.
Course Curriculum Overview
The duration of the course is 4 years which is divided into 8 semester. This program is basically designed to offer students a course which concentrates on the concepts of fashion designing. In the first year we are taught subjects like fashion studies, Communication concepts, Graphic design, philosophy design, visual merchandising and design methodology. The last year focuses on the core concepts of fashion designing with creative output as well as input. A greater cognition of subjects is attained through a deep study of contextual subjects by attending seminars and doing designed projects.
Placement Experience
Roles offered to the students are fashion journalist, sales executive, fashion consultant, graphic designing, fashion marketing manager, area operation manager etc. The various job areas that the students might work in were advertising companies, media houses, retailing companies, fashion consultancies or becoming fashion bloggers. The maximum which was offered to one of my friend was about 9 LPA in the field of fashion photographer and the average might range between 4 to 6 LPA. Internships are also offered to students to work in fields like public relations, fashion designing, advertising and journalism and etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fees for semester is 118050. The examination fees is 3900 which needs to be paid before the start of the semester. Other fees include 30,900. Thus the total for 1 year is approx. 2.7 Lakh, which I consider is quite feasible seeing the other colleges fee structure.
Campus Life
Workshops on visual merchandising, basics of fashion level, design methodology, design interpretation on auto-CAD, fashion journalism, etc are organised from time to time. Other cultural activities include fashion ramp walk, DJ night, face painting, pottery, Dance competition, music competition, photography exhibition etc. Inter college sports event is also held for a period of three days so that the students can participate and showcase their talents.
Admission
You can apply for the course in online mode and pay through online payment gateway. You need to be a 12th pass out from a recognized board other than that, you need to qualify ""Creative Ability Test"" which is conducted by college officials. The test comprises of written exam, group discussion and finally the personal interview. A merit list will be declared on the college official website and you can check your name accordingly.
Faculty
The teachers are really very helpful when it comes to explaining the concepts of craft publications and craft promotion. They have a creative set of mind with a great fashion sensibility to teach us to make trends in the fashion industry. They help us in translating the client's requirements into concrete designs and implementing them with efficiency. Any doubt is always answered in their behalf and they intent to make us capable of multitasking and operating for fashion industry with maximum productivity.
