Remarks
Just an average for ordinary middle class students like me who could not afford big fees or couldnot go out of town to study.
Entrance Preview
I wanted to pursue a graduation in the field of Arts from a University that offered desired course closer to my home, hence I opted for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
It was ok and timings were very lenient. The electives were home science, music and physical education for arts background students. There were other electives also like specific computer courses but were very costly, hence not opted.
Internships Opportunities
No stipend was offered. Overall it was a good experience. There was no compulsory attendance and no one bothered if you attended classes or not. We simply had to give exam at the end of the semester, that's all and of course there was lot of copying done by students.
Placement Experience
No job opportunities, they simply gave graduation degree. There was nothing called job opportunity for students like us. We could not even dream of having a decent job after completing the course. It was just the degree which was main criteria for attending the course.
College Events
Annual programs like sports meets, festivals etc. were celebrated with great fervour but the biggest festival for the campus was University students' Union elections during which lot of drama went on the campus and there gundas roaming throughout tge campus canvassing for one candidate or the other.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible. We paid around Rs. 1000/- annual fees for the course and there were no extra charges. It was one of the cheapest option available to me so I went for. So in around Rs.3000/- I got my graduation degree and could pursue my career.
Fees and Financial Aid
No idea. I never availed any suc facility but there were some scholarships available for students from weaker sections of the society but amount was very low of these scholarships. Moreover tge procedure for these facilities was so cumbersome that even the most deservig ones were discouraged to avail them.
Campus Life
No very encouraging. No study environment for good students. Local gundas holding it to ransom. As I stated earlier, student's politics had marred the campus life and gundas made the University as their base to further their agendas. Even the teachers were afraid of them and didnot say anything to them and this emboldened them so much thay even manhandled many professors on petty issues. There were not much extracurricular activities and girls were afraid to walk on the campus due to lot of eve teasing.
Hostel Facilities
No hostel facilities were there in our course. Since I was a local, I used to stsy in my home and had no idea about facilities in the hostel but to the best of my knowledge there were no hostel facilities available to the students and outsiders used to stay in private hostels and rum their own kitchen for food and other such things.
Alumni/Alumna
No such network. The University almost disowns the students once they pass out of it and there is nothing called Alumni association or clubs. Once a batch passes out the students hardly ever meet againand University also doesn't bother to call them back. Some informal groups have been formed through social media forums but are mostly ineffective. Neither the University has any attachment for its alumni nor the students have any towards the University.
Exam Structure
It is semester wise now. Earlier it was yearly exam and the exam was spread over a month with lots of gap between each paper so we could afford to study only during the exam. It was thrilling to give exams and papers were mostly easy and from guidebooks available in the market.
Faculty
It was knowledgeable but seemed to be uninterested in teaching. They were more interested in politics and personal businesses. Teaching is a vocation and profession but today it has become business and the teachers have become businessmen.
