Remarks
If you are looking for world-class facilities and the ability to use them, you have come to the right place. VIT has very good lab facilities and students are encouraged to use them as much as they can for projects (there's a caveat here which I'll get to later) and other non-curricular activities.
Entrance Preview
The entrance exam to join any course at VIT was VITEEE. It was for masters that I applied there. I had made my mind to follow my passion which was an automobile engineer. I applied for a master's in Germany which offers the best in this domain. But unfortunately, I din get through the selection procedure. The next best course in India was offered at VIT. The course was in Collaboration with the Automotive Research Association of India(ARAI). The get into this course toppers of the VITEEE exam are given an option to choose this course and one needs to crack a F2F interview conducted by ARAI and VIT.
Internships Opportunities
The internship was not at all hard to search for. As every organization has good regard for ARAI and its standards. I applied to the RnD dept at Bosch India Limited and I easily got it. Generally in India, the concept of stipend for interns are lean. I didn't have any stipend when I did my internship. But if u manage to get placed there are good chances of u getting paid while doing an internship.
College Events
VIT is well known and a reputed institute in India. It has 2 big fests which are conducted every year. One is GRAVITAS which is a tech Fest that is held in the odd sem and the other is Riviera which is a cultural fest that happens every even sem. I wasn't a part of any fest in the college as I was chasing another dream which is to build a team of my own which spreads laughter through performance in Bangalore.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was pretty decent as compared to other universities. And this being the best course in the country the fee is negligible. As I was from Bangalore, I had to opt for a hostel facility there at the campus. The course fee was around 1 Lakh per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships were given out to the toppers of the VITEEE exam. I wasn't aware of this as I was not eligible for this.
Campus Life
The Vellore campus is spread over 500 acres of land and has all the facilities and amenities which is required for a student wrt to sports and labs. It has one of the highest collection of books and the biggest library in India. It contains almost 25000 students. And the gender ratio is decent and almost equal.
Alumni/Alumna
There is very good alumina of VIT where almost around 10 lakh students are active. This really helped me in opting for this course. I had shot a few questions to the alumina through one of the social websites and I had got a lot of replies.
Exam Structure
The exams and Internal tests were pretty chilled out. As I had studied in VTU for my bachelor which has higher standards and is considered to be the toughest, this was a bit easier for me.
Faculty
The faculty at VIT was pretty good and were qualified enough to teach the subjects. Every faculty had some industrial experience before they had taken up this job. At ARAI, we had all Industrial Experts teaching us the subjects. And every month there were people coming to form different organizations to do a workshop at ARAI which gave us the whole insight of the subject.
