Brief Analysis of my Time at Gargaon

The course is divided on the basis of semesters and an exam is conducted by the Dibrugarh University after every semester. The English course is meticulous and analytical and will force you to delve deep into the prose taught.

Though not initially so, the administrators and management have recently been lobbying for a strong placement cell. As a result of this, the placement has been quite good for the last 2 years. In our department, however, people still prefer going for an M.A first.

Our college has a unique event every year - the "College Week". It is like an intra-college fest where we take part in sporting activities, debates, elocution and quiz. We also hold the annual Tanu Konger All Assam Inter College Debate Competition in honour of our first principal, Late Tanu Konger.

The fee structure is divided by year and students of B.A English have to pay Rs 3040 every year as tuition fees. This brings the total of 3 years to a meager Rs 9120, which is quite affordable for most students.

Our institute takes part in a number of sporting facilities across Assam and India and the college management has always lauded students on their overall development. We also have good facilities, especially when it comes to the library- which lets us use services Internet free of cost.

Gargaon is a quite a celebrated college in the North-Eastern state of Assam. I come from a different state and while applying for the B.A English degree, I had to submit my 10+2 marks for review. They take 663 students in the B.A course and if you feature in the merit list, you get admission.

Most of the professors in my English department had a postgraduate degree and our esteemed HOD Dr Rashmi Rekha Saikia herself has an M.A M.Phil Ph.D in English. The faculty is enthusiastic and enterprising when it comes to teaching us.
